Eric Garner Grandy Jury Decision Today

Most on this board would want the cops to walk away, let the guy finish to avoid confrontation.

Gtfo with this idiocy. You are completely clueless to the reasons people have a problem with an overreaching police force. You have no concept of individual liberty or why a true lover of freedom would have a problem being physically or symbolically repressed by tyranny.

:cray: I'm crying for Columbia Law students if they feel unnerved by grand jury decisions to delay their exams. Talk about the wussification of America. How about grow up & move on!! Get a grip you babies. Quote: "Students who felt their performance could suffer because of the decisions in the Ferguson & Staten Island cases could request a delay in exams". That type of thing or excuses never happened around these parts to not take exams.

What you just posted is nonsensical and ridiculous. Rape is an actual crime with a real victim. Shorting the feeds their second nickel on a cig is not

But they have been stopped in progress. Or about to be. Been there, done that.

Well that's better than nothing. Still not good odds if you're getting raped. It is better than calling a farmer, though, as tim pointed out so stupidly. As though that was relevant to the statistic he was responding to.

I don't think you'll find a cop our there that would disagree that its better to stop those before it happens. And I can guarantee if they got a call of a rape in progress they'd drop everything and respond in far excessive speeds allowed by law.

It's a violent and heinous crime to deal with. And all of them would rather get a rapist off the streets permanently in some cases, than have to deal with the aftermath.

:good!:

One of my biggest problems policing stuff like cigarette taxes is that it diverts resources from protecting us against and investigating violent crimes (or more serious crimes than cigarette tax evasion). Keep up the good work.

We got cops in my small home town posing as prostitute on Craig's List trying to bust old college professors and church volunteers who are some of the best citizens we got, LMAO.

Tue lover of freedom.....repressed by tyranny......are u freaking kidding me? Almost every single person in this forum, owns a nice car, owns several cpu type devices, cellphones, has a nice house and plenty of food to eat. Even most of the poorer people in the USA has more than the average person in other countries. We are not living in Tyranny.

I do agree that NYC laws are stupid.....they are trying to force people to quit smoking and wont allow u to get a large coke to drink. Its one of the many reasons that I choose not to live there. It is, however, a law and one that law enforcement is sworn to uphold. I am al for not paying the taxes on cigs but selling them illegally is going to hurt the businesses that are doing things the right way. Your problem is with the legislators and the way to get things changed is not by breaking the law. Garner had been cited several times for doing this and continued to do it anyways.

I think you guys are too hung up on the selling of untaxed cigarettes issue in this instance. Did the store owner they are in front of not call the cops because of a disturbance? I'm asking....

My take on this is that the cops pull up and see Mr. Cigarette Seller and know him due to his arrest record and past run ins. I don't think they sought him out over the cigarettes.

I don't think you know what tyranny is. It has nothing to do with how many cars and big screen televisions you have. And I'm quite impressed with your delusion if you've convinced yourself that we don't live in at least a soft version of tyranny. The police are a tool used (in an increasingly militarized fashion) to ensure that the tyranny remains unchecked.

Tell me how u have felt even a soft version of tyranny in your life?

Yeah, I'm sure if your father was "detained" liked Garner was and died because of it, you wouldn't be in here acting like the cop didn't do anything wrong.

Empathy is important.

Thats a good point.

Also makes you wonder how many here and abroad fall into that empathy mode if this guy was gunned down for his cigs on the street by the competition.
