Committe has an impossible job, as there is no consensus at all and a case could be made for the entire top 6. The following would be my logic for narrowing it down to 4:
Baylor is the only team out of the top 6 that has a win over a top 6 team. That has to count for something imo. I know FSU is undefeated but they would get rolled by any of the other top 6 teams imo.
TCU had their playoff game against Baylor and came up short.
I'd go:
1. Oregon
2. Alabama
3. Baylor
4. Ohio State.
I don't like FSU but there is no way in hell you leave out an undefeated team. Everyone is scared to play them. Get over it.
I actually like FSU, just don't think they are in the same class as the other 5 this season. I agree that by being undefeated the committee will probably put them in...but I'm not sure its a 100% thing. And if they do make it in, I will bet that the other 3 will be licking their chops to play them. I think they will lose by double digits to whoever they play in the 1st round. Jmo.
That was a good GT team that could have given any of the other 5 fits. JW is a talent regardless of his antics. No one wants to play a scrappy FSU.
I think the only thing I disagree with you on is the last sentence. Any team you face in the playoff is going to be very good, but FSU wouldn't scare me near as much as Bama, Oregon, tOSU, Baylor or TCU. But reasonable minds can differ. A 6 or 8 team playoff would be ideal this year.
