Dobbs is not the answer

Dude, I was giving you a freakin compliment when I stated that I assumed that you were a level headed guy. Are you suggesting that I came to the wrong conclusion? This has got to be the first. Someone actually arguing against a positive comment about themselves. Damn.

Bro, I apologize if I offended you by giving you a compliment. No I won't put you on ignore, its a childish way to avoid conflict. It shows an inability to have self-control and composure. The easy way out.

You didn't offend me at all. Apologies if I missed the compliment.....certainly didn't expect it so I must've read past it. My suggesting you put me on ignore has nothing to do with conflict resolution or self control. I typically come in here to interact, exchange ideas and debate a little bit.....not to be bothered so much that I respond to every post a single guy writes.....you seemed bothered by my opinions and posts, figured you could ignore mine and improve your experience on here....nothing more, nothing less.

I think Dobbs will lose his starting job at some point next year to a freshmen. We have had some freshmen QBs play and they have been pretty good at times so don't pretend like it's completely outrageous to see a freshman start.
Shows how little you know about football!

Dobbs went from greatest QB ever to being beaten by a freshman his junior year. Fanbase strikes again!

Dobbs had planned on redshirting abut answered the call for us. He won 2 SEC road games for us. He is still young, but is the best QB we have had for some time. He had 4 of his top 6 receivers injured and not playing yesterday and Hurd was out for 80% of the game. He put the game away with his running ability, gaining 91 yards and scoring 2 TDS. Basically, if he is not in the game, we lose. Give him the first team snaps over the off-season, an influx of new playmakers, and time for the rest of the offense to heal and get stronger, and he will be fine. Peterman will back him up next year, but it would not surprise me to see Jennings and/or Dormady to play.

Don't forget the OL issues. For anyone to form an opinion at this early stage of development and under these conditions is ridiculous. Everyone has seen flashes of what he's capable of. Given time I think he will be a very good QB in this league. He has the tools and the brain. I'm excited to see what he can do and the competition will only add to that. Believe it or not but there were more than a few who thought Stewart was the better QB than Manning based on a few early games. Time will tell. Threads like this are just silly.

Just an observation here and I'm not trying to start an argument. Just want to point a thing or two out and ask a question.

Observation: Dobbs has been in the program for two full years now. I can't remember exactly how many games he started last year, but I think it was four or five and he has started in four of the five he has played in this year. He's started in almost a full years worth of games. Two spring practices, two full preseasons, two full midyear workouts and a passing academy or two.

Question: How much time does he need and where will he get it? He only has two years of eligibility left.

Just a few weeks ago we had him up for the Heisman, now he is not good enough to start. Can you say schizophrenia?
He will get better, but that's not saying he will start. CBJ will have that decision. I have confidence in him making the right one.

I'm sorry. I'm getting a hair cut at Too Hottties and 2 of the hottest assistants ever tending to my every need. 4 drinks later I think I'm next for a hair cut and reading some of this nonsense. Get a life people!!

Some Vols fans have been looking for the next P. Manning since he left. Maybe you should look for the next Tee Martin. He won a NC the very next season. The point is, the P. Manning's of the football world doesn't come around often and you can win without having a pin point passer. History has proven it time and time again.

How do you keep a straight face when you post? I have a feeling you know very little about football.

The people who think a freshman will beat out Dobbs next year is HIGH! Why do we always put our high school recruits on a pedastool? Because they are unknown? Saying Dobbs is not the future is just as asinine. The easiest quality to improve in a QB is accuracy. It just requires many off season repetitions with his wideouts.

Enough already with this thread. 11 pages in and there is nothing anyone is going to say that hasn't already been said with regard to the title/content of this thread.

Well, it's not the same people, of course. All that happened was: when Dobbs was playing lights out, the critics didn't post; after one bad throwing game, they went back to their original stuff. If we had a real poll every time the tenor changed on here (and mods, please don't), and everyone actually participated, you'd see very little change in what the vast majority of folks are thinking. Don't be fooled into thinking that having an idea shouted down on volnation is really indicative of what "the fanbase" thinks.

Gee, you complement and apologize to the 'level-headed', arrogant, pathologically dishonest manipulator? How did that work out for ya? Did he hold himself accountable? Did he suddenly become honest? Did you make a new pathologically dishonest friend? Do his like-minded acolytes love you more? Did he return the favor - or just bite you? Did you gain the respect of allies whom agree with you?

Chronic manipulators just need to be confronted and exposed for the frauds they are - then defeated on the merits when they keep manipulating. It's never pretty or popular to nail a guy to the wall. Yet, manipulators like him will never hold themselves intellectually accountable when proven wrong. They just keep manipulating, evading and looking for a weakness to exploit. Save charity and graciousness for the many reasonable people of good-will. Manipulators like him will only exploit it. Figure out whom your allies really are before they lose respect or you. Don't compliment or apologize to the dishonest hoping to gain their respect. Remember, sociopaths almost always represent themselves as composed and level-headed. It's how they gain the confidence of suckers they manipulate. Just saying.

Exactly! The entire post! Dobbs will get better. If a freshman does step in next year and the 0-line isn't any better we will get the same result. They will get killed. O-line will be the key was all of this year and will be next year! Injuries too!

O-line improvement is critical for the offense's success whomever is the qb. That is obvious.

If a freshman beats Dobbs out at qb, it means the freshman IS very good AND has significant potential for the future. It doesn't necessarily mean Dobbs sucks.

I'm still convinced you two are one and the same. :ermm:

If you are speaking of me and FLSTVol: No we are not the same. He is correct and well-informed on the historical facts most people refuse to accept, but I'm far less tolerant of the dishonesty, hypocrisy and manipulators. I'de bet he resents my brass-knuckles approach to dealing with the perpetually dishonest among VN. I think he is 100% correct on substance, but too concerned about playing nice with pathological manipulators. I don't care how the weasels feel about me. Frankly, I don't care a rat's butt how the masses feel about me. Most of them are only superficially paying attention and easily manipulated by the style of the chronic manipulators I confront and expose. I enjoy rooting out the liars and manipulators - no matter how many are turned off, spew bile and hate me. None of them can defeat anything I argued on the merits. That's what I care about - exposing dishonesty among the pathologically dishonest manipulators whose pride won't permit accountability. It's fun watching a snake dance.

While agree with what you are saying, I still find it hard to believe that in the 17 years since Manning, we haven't been able to recruit a QB even remotely close to him in ability.

How many have there been? Also, consider all the hate the prostyle QBs get on this board.
