The playoff pretty much starts tonight. Go Ducks I think. If they are more likely to beat Bama or FSU than other teams and a team that can keep OSU out, I'm in. Go Ducks.

Not really improvement all year long, but at least something.

You give any inexperienced kid 1000 reps of live action on the OL and IMO there should be a night and day difference in his performance.

I am not sure about this line of thinking. If I got 1000 reps, I may improve by slowing the guy down 0.1 second more, but at 5'8", 190, the DL would still go around me...quickly. But, you can't improve talent. If a guy isn't talented enough, then he won't be able to play the position. We had at least 2 OL who were playing out of position. Kerbyson and Thomas are better suited inside, and you simply can't improve their "talent." They are talented enough to play but not at tackle. JMO.

Hey Volatil I don't know if you've ever met the Union City kicker at any camps but he set the state record for extra points in a season today. I built two field goals at his house about 4 years ago so I am a bit proud. UC did have to score a lot of TDs to make it happen but he had to make em too.

I don't really care if a kid SHOULD be playing OG, but is playing OT out of need. After 1000 reps I'd expect the kid to be better at what he is doing. I get it's not ideal, but a lot of times this year just getting in the guys way would have helped. If you are 6'4 and 305 instead of 6'6 and 315, I still feel it's reasonable to see improvement. At least don't whiff on block after block. Get some kind of push in the run game. SOMETHING!

Kerby plays RT fairly well. Agreed he is better at G. But instead he plays LT most of the season. Kendrick plays LT and RT fairly well. Kendrick sits all but 3 games. Thomas is a C that plays RT awful. Thomas plays RT until he gets hurt. Robertson is a DT that plays RG poorly to mediocre at best. He starts 10 games. Wiesman, the G with experience that the staff brags about, sits the season out until he needs to play C at the end. Gilliam is a good LT that goes down in the first game only to come back and start at RT with one leg. Meanwhile the guy (Blair) they recruited to play LT this season is RS'd. The guy they recruited to play RT 2 years ago is now a bad LG back-up.

That makes my head hurt at how poorly all of this has been handled.

That's what I've been thinking as well. People keep saying the line will be so much better next year. I'm not sure that's true. We're missing some talent on the line. There's only so many reps you can do before you hit a ceiling.

Our REAL hope is an infusion of different talent at a couple of positions. I'm hopeful Blair becomes a difference maker. I expect Jashon and Coleman to be better just because of mental and physical maturity. The rest of the line? I just don't know...

All IMO, of course.

Saw them at Saturday Night Lights camp in Nashville. Good kid

Exactly. I cannot see the excuses for being out of position or whiffing. If you get beat physically because you are playing out of position - that's reasonable. But to just miss assignment after assignment and whiff after whiff - nah. Hit the right guy whether you win the match-up or not. Then its on the OC to call quicker developing plays as well as traps and misdirection to help the match-up issues. Herein lies the problem and InVOLuntary has pointed it out all season. Jake does not scheme based on match-ups, much less play call around them.
