That would be nice to get Pinky out of MIZZ, where they could slide down to Kentucky and Vandy where they belong, been in the league 3 years and won East twice, makes it look bad on the SEC.

Its also possible SC sucks even worse next year, Chump's defense gets lit up, Spurrier is forced into retirement and Chump gets fired again.

Ward is a good recruiter though. He recruited Atlanta for South Carolina and the have like 20 kids from metro ATL on their roster. He recruited Mike Davis and a lot of those guys.

Who would they get, they might just take a nose dive like we did after Fulmer, before little nick got there, I remember beating them like 62-28 in the late 90s, they got lucky with Nick and the Grass Eater, there luck might just run out if Les leaves.:good!:The mid 90s, I am getting old I remember beating them I think 62-28 when Peyton was QB, might have been Shuler, I remember looking at the schedule and thinking LSU was a sure win, the good old days, well its just about time for the cycle to change and TENNESSEE will rule the East and the SEC again.:clapping:

I could actually see it playing out. Here you have Hart, CBJ, and his agent at the negotiating table. Hart offers a raise of 250,000. CBJ's agent acts as though they were expecting more. Hart reaches into his pocket and pulls out a 20 and a penny. "It's all we got"!

Every dollar spent on one thing is a dollar that could be spent on something else. UT has a lot of financial obligations, many stemming from bad decisions made by inept administrators. I do care how the money is spent, and I would like it to be spent as prudently as possible.

That would be a valid analogy if Butch was setting his own salary. He's not.

1. Dave Hart knows the budget better than we do. Whatever he feels Butch is worth, I'm cool with that.

2. The difference between 3.5 and 4 million is less than .5% of the yearly revenue of the athletic department, pre Butch.

3. That revenue has undoubtedly increased substantially based on ticket sales and the SEC Network, and we have finished paying off Dooley and Fulmer since Butch was hired. So the department should be more profitable.

4. There's a strong argument to be made that spending an additional million dollars per year (3 mil to 4 mil) to retain Jones would be prudent spending.

All that goes back to my initial point. Dave Hart gets paid to know this stuff. We don't. This whole discussion is arbitrary. It's one thing to say he deserves a raise or doesn't. He deserves an extension it doesn't. Trying to quantify what that raise or extension should be, with the information available, and acting like it will be bad if he makes more or less, is stupid.

I was born in Michigan and right now I hate the whole flipping state of Michigan. Leave Butch Jones alone and hire a dang coach already!! :mad:

Butch should replace Mahoney with Hoke. I don't think Brady would take the job, but that would be cool.

Or my personal fav would be for Phil Fulmer to coach OL.

Fulmer as OL coach would be insane. Would love it, but the mans pride would never allow it to happen. I know if it were me, I couldn't do it.
