Seems like he could be a good one. Lots of experience in the SEC, of course he was under little Nicky so who knows how you could really take that. He did turn CSU into a top Offensive team(did lose to Boise and Air Force this year). Wonder if he can recruit. Florida makes that a little easier, but he could have the Gators Offense flowing next year or after.

It sounds like you copied and pasted from the Dooley thread when he was hired.

I just think they could have hired a more seasoned HC. This is the Florida job. I like Foley in charge.

I agree there should have been a much bigger splash made with that hire. I was curious to see how the recruits reacted to the hire. Then I remembered...what recruits? :p

Foley's last two coaching hires have exactly 3 years experience as a HC combined.

"Come to Florida, we'll give you on the job training"

Lol, this guy is way better hire than Dooley IMO. Believe me, I hope he flames out and they have to do it all again in 3 years. He seems to be very good with offense, doesn't mean he will be a good HC by any means but he is going to school that recruits itself for the most part.

I totally agree on the hiring a more seasoned HC. I was kinda shocked when he was listed as soon as they started looking. Thought they would be able to bring a top notch proven HC.

DD at Louisiana Tech

3 years 17-20 record with a Bowl win his second year (8-5)

JM at CSU

3 years 22-16 with a Bowl win in his second season (8-6)

Granted he won 10 games this year but they are closer than you think.

There are 79 bowl teams with the possibility of 2 more this weekend and 76 spots for teams. UAB may not get chosen because they are fifth in the league with 4 tie ins. I hate it for the players. I wish someone would let them play one last game

As the transition from adidas to Nike draws closer and closer, UT officials continue to be in constant contact with Nike reps for the process. Uniforms, cleats, gear, etc. all have been ordered for the football team. There's already new design implementations for some logos, with talks of having some of the Vols' retro logos reintroduced. Additionally, there are new uniform mocks for a number of sports including football and basketball.

While Nike isn't scheduled to formally become the apparel/uniform partner until July 1, 2015, the unveiling process could come a bit earlier if all parties can agree.

I wonder if a "bit earlier" would be before signing day. I doubt it...but that would be nice.

If I were a UAB player, I would want no part of playing a bowl game. Why go bust my butt to make $$ for the university that has dropped me? UAB would be in my rear view mirror of thoughts if I were a player. I'd be focused on finding a new place to call home. JMO

I believe if Michigan fans look at how well Pinkel has done in the SEC they will be pleased to get him, especially if he brings most of his staff with him. Pinkel is from Akron, Ohio which is only about 150 miles from Ann Arbor. Pinkel would probably be happy to get in the Big 10 (or whatever it is now) where he won't have the issue of playing the SEC's grinding schedule. He is 61 years old but he should have 8-10 more years of coaching in him. Overall he would be a great catch for them and most everyone in the SECe would be happy to see him leave.

Pinkel makes sense. Why would they wait until this weekend to announce unless the new coach still had a game to finish out?

Or out of respect for those playing this weekend, the coach decided to wait until after the games.

Welp, as much as I hope Zach Stewart has an Outland Trophy involved with his career at UT, he and Coafield are about to feel the fury of the Golden Tornados today by God. Go UC! Back to back.

You'd do it for one more game with your brothers.

Which is exactly why they will not get a bowl.

Espn was talking about this yesterday. Said that they deserve it but no one will take them due to possibly "poison environment".

Because the players are given gifts, too in addition to a destination trip. It's a reward for them. I am pretty sure the university didn't want to drop football. They should have waited to make the announcement. They prevented themselves from having an opportunity to receive an invitation by announcing it when they did.

Makes sense but whoever that was in the video who said "numbers don't match" was from UAB. The players were really mad at that guy.

It'd be a tough sell but if they got the right opponent at the right location, I could still see it selling out if it got the marketing of going as a protest against the NCAA.

I just think a bowl doesnt want to be involved with a protest.

Plenty of those on TV each day. Papa Johns want to hear their name when they mention the game not this stuff.

I didn't see the video, but I am just saying that their desire is not to drop football. If they had the funds, they would continue. I think this has been up in the air for a while, and it finally came to the end. It is unfortunate.
