Again, with the facts. Stop that. Don't you remember the imaginary job offer from Texas he used to get his raise and promotion?
if moving to Baylor from TN is promotion.......coming back would be regression? If Taylor would consider Baylor to Tennessee a lateral move, he's a bigger goof than even I think.
does anyone know anything about how Trooper gameplans for the 3-4 or 4-3. Do we know how he makes in game adjustments? Do we know how he is at meshing all of the moving parts together? Do we have any idea about his analysis of what D coordinators are trying to do to our team and how to counter that? What is the guys philosophy? Is discipline a focus?
IMO, his strength is expectations. He fully expects players to live up to his expectations, which isn't the case across the board at UT. He does bring enthusiasm, which is a huge factor at the collegiate level.
I have no idea about any of the questions above and I'm just not sure how anyone can assess most of those. A proven coordinator, you know most of those answers.
don't worry lex, he'll have CPF right there to help him thru it. problem solved.:thumbsup:In his news conference at Duke Cut made the point that he was much more prepared for the duties associated with being a head coach. Whether you feel he is qualified or not, it is hard to argue the value of his previous experience.
In the presser, he also talked about play calling and offensive game management. In his description of those duties, he commented on the fact that a coordinator has a grand total of 3 to 4 seconds to call a play and communicate that to the sidelines.
I would equate that to a freshman learning the speed of the game in the SEC. Nothing....and I mean nothing but real time game experience can teach you how to do it. We cannot afford to have someone learning on the job right now.
I don't understand...I thought most folks at least were unhappy with the status quo...this MIGHT be an opportunity to fix what is wrong...Trooper coached Foster, he fumbles, Trooper coached Austin Rogers, he drops as many as he catches, Lucas Taylor may be just that good, Trooper seems to try very hard to fire up the, um, troops, but they don't respond. Our Offensive line gave up 4,or 5 sacks in a season, why aren't we worried about keeping Adkins! Finally, he can relate in recruiting...I think there are a lot of guys in assistant positions that can do that, more so I think we could get a proven OC with a good recruiting reputation, that will bring along his best and brightest...The big loss from this aspect is the QB situation which Cut brought all the beef to the table.
All I know if we offer him the OC or not, We NEED this guy on our staff. Not to bring out the race card but recruiting is such a big part of making a successful program. Having only 1 black coach on our staff will kill us. It is essential to have someone the players can relate to.
Has Trooper given CPF an ultimatium that if he doesn't get the OC he will leave?
Even if he hasn't, the situation is similar to the one with Cut in which going to Duke as HC was clearly his best career option. Troop has an offer from his alma mater and one from OK State. If his heart is at Baylor he has that. If his best career option of those two OC position is to go to OK State (and I think it is since they have a better football tradition than does Baylor), then he has the promotion. Troop is already an assistant head coach at UT.
What exactly, if anything, could CPF do to keep Troop at UT short of promoting him to OC?
Although it hasn't been proven, I think Carroll breaks the rules when it comes to recruiting. But again nothing has been proven.
I think Pat Summit practices human sacrifice and women's basketball is a plot to slowly bore portions of the American population to death. Again, nothing has been proven.
