Michigan Contacted CBJ per FootballScoop (merged)

The latest Michigan rumor making the rounds tonight is that IF Jim Harbaugh does turn the job town (and for those saying he already has, no, he hasn't), Les has made it clear he wants it.

Wish the search would turn off our coach and go somewhere else. if this were 1990 it would not matter because if a coach said he was staying end of story. If Kirin had not left us high and dry then no one would care if they had a meeting with each other...... So srtessed

You couldn't sale a life raft to a drowning man, wonder boy. Nor do I think he hung the moon, after all you seem to "know" a lot about very few things. I do think he is the right man for this job.

So you know how good I am at my job? Kinda weird, considering I have no idea who you are.

Kiffin going to USC was not silly and I would have told you the same back then. He is a West Coast guy and was not well liked by the UT administration or boosters. No one foresaw the debacle that was Dooley coming but most knew that if USC offered, Kiffin was gone. There was no loved lost there, just poor timing. CBJ is well liked on the hill and UT knows that it cannot afford another coaching search. Unless UM offers some crazy sum of money, UT will be able to match it.

Yea it would suck to lose a 11-13 coach. This clown and his group of carnival cronies should have never been hired.
I didn't realize Tennessee had an administration? A cluster f===== is the correct term.

Doc watched Tombstone tonight and got all wound up.

That is wrong. Ole Miss wanted him to replace a bunch of his staff and he said no. That's why he was fired.

This is like saying that your wife left you for coming home late one night after you'd been cheating on her for years. Cutcliffe became unpopular even before Eli left because recruiting sucked. Because he was unpopular, the administration jumped at the chance to force him out by demanding staff changes that they knew he wouldn't accept. Poor recruiting is the reason Cutcliffe had zero support even though he was only one season removed from one of the best years in Ole Miss history.

I was listening to SVP and Rusilo today and they had a guest who said that Butch made the most sense for the Michigan job. I think it was Travis Haney.

Dollar General with $15B in annual revenue? Sure, I'll take that gig, thanks!

Ok, other than what I see as your rush to judgement about Jones, we can agree. If he stays around, we will get there in a couple of years or so.

You have absolutely NO way of knowing that and if your head weren't in the sand you'd see reasons to doubt.

Funny I'm the one rushing to judgment... and you've already concluded he's a success before he actually wins anything of importance while all I've done is said there was bad to go with the good.

You manage a $15B business? Hmmmm.....

I don't think Jones is going anywhere anytime soon. I'm sure his agent will work all available angles to get his client a raise.

I liked the banworthy post, so lump me in with docholiday.

You don't have to believe that Jones is a championship-quality coach to think that him leaving right now would be a disaster. Another year or two then sure, whatever. But if he leaves now and the 2015 class falls apart then we're starting over almost from square one, maybe square 1.5, with two more years wasted. We can't afford another round of coaching-change roster attrition yet.

I don't think it's going to happen, but it seems crazy that any UT fans would be actively rooting for it.

I keep telling people that. Butch's record is almost secondary to the stability that we need right now.
