I'm sorry but Butch is losing a few cool points with me on this. Not for wanting more but for repeatedly saying you have no interest. Until whoops now maybe I do.

I would think you would want actual verifiable data before you would take away someone's 'cool points.' Those things are expensive, and right now all we have is speculation of speculation.

Butch has Hart by the short ones and he knows it, Hart knows it, everyone knows it.

Butch leaving along with half the recruiting class (not to mention the transfers) would cripple this program back to 2010 levels.

He has all the leverage right now.

And I'm OK with that, for now. Jones did take a big risk to come here. This program was in shambles. He's brought stability and is recruiting at a very high level. He has re-kindled the affection of the former players. Even without on-field results (which I think he has delivered when you consider the hand he's been dealt...Dooley would have won four games, max, this year), he gets a very good job evaluation from me, so far.

The posters at 247 are ripping Rucker for tweeting that before posting it on their board. lol
Rucker is normally conservative with what he says, so if he tweeted it then I doubt he is just guessing.

Thus is from the same Michigan scout writer of the link above, from yesterday

Word on the street is despite state of Michigan ties, Butch Jones genuinely has little to no interest in leaving*Tennessee.* So drop him down board considerably.

Whoa whoa whoa. What legitimate person said he has interest?

He hasn't signed his new contract. Either way it is a game and we alllllll know that. If he had beat any of our all time rivals i'D feel like most of you but he hasn't.

I think that is a gross exaggeration.

Lulz - Fair enough. I'm done.

Guys we had a top 5 class last year, we are #5 right now and trending upward. Its sad, but $4 mil is nothing in terms of keeping an SEC coach who can recruit like that and has shown progress. If we lose butch we will end up with another dooley, just hoping and praying that he can get the right amount of men on the field and begging for the 5.5 3* to choose us over Kansas and UCONN, cause thats about the only guy thats going to want to come after the bomb that would be dropped on UT football that would be 10x worse than Lane Kiffin.

The thing about it is, the amazing recruiting classes are some what insignificant in this situation, because in college football, stability is worth a lot of top 10 recruiting classes in our situation. There are so many positive things going on in our program right now. 1. We found our QB, a guy with his head on straight AND can play, we haven't seen that in a while 2. We probably have a top 10 DE in the country and he's a true freshman, and to go along with him, we have a guy who came off 2 torn acls to have 11 sacks 3. We have a freshman RB who week after week announcers and scouts compare to Eddie George and 4. We probably have the most talented WR core in the SEC for next year, by far.

Of course we still have glaring needs along the OL and DT position, but do you guys not remember how terrible awful Dooley was, and he was allowed to coach and recruit here for 3 years. Butch may not be the guy, but he took over for one of the worst coaches I've seen in a long time, so we have to buy him time. And if we have to pay $4-$5 mil to buy that time then its a no brainer you pay it 10/10 times.

Rucker on twitter = Clay Travis. I'm serious about that. He acts a fool most of the time and he gets worse during bye weeks and the offseason when he has nothing legit to report on.

The Michigan gig has come up whenever we've had a lull in the season - bye weeks and otherwise slow news weeks only to evaporate when the season picked back up again. That's not a coincidence, imo.

Also. LWS said this over there a couple of minutes ago.

"Trace is talking to Michigan when he is not talking to Hart. that is just how the game is played.."

I don't want Butch to leave. I said this yesterday and will say it again...if he does leave (which I don't think he will) then I want us to take a page out of Kstate's strategy and bring back Fulmer for a few years of stability. I really believe Fulmer could still recruit to UT. I say this because at some point the revolving door needs to stop. Hopefully it has/will with Butch.

I think we bring back Johnny Majors for a few years.

All I want at this point is for someone to go drop a briefcase on Drew Richmond's front porch. Now whats in it? You make the assumptions.

Exactly the comparison I had in mind. Both are fond of wild speculation.

People hate on Rucker all the time & for good resson..but geez he's been around long enough & through enough coaching searches to know what he's talking about.

I have no problem with Butch getting market value.

4 million is too high. I'm with DD on this one. If you want 4, your buyout is 8. Street goes both ways
