I've seen several commentators say similar things. Garrett's numbers are good. Barnett's numbers are against better competition.

Majority of Garrett's supposedly came against the weaker OOC teams they played and the majority of Barnett's came against our SEC competition.

I haven't actually looked it up to verify, so I'm just going to assume the commentators did.

Even the announcers for the vandy game said they'd take Barnett over Garrett.

I envision a Sophomore slump only because everyone will be keyed on him. And he'll have more playmakers around him. Kind of similar to Sutton. Maggit will have the NFL year he deserves though.

So how will Barnett have a slump with even more help. Maggitt makes it impossible to double Barnett all game. Also Sutton was much better this year. Wasn't close he took a huge jump.

Add the second year playmakers to the line-up. And he may go ballistic.

My breakout guys for next season are as follows:

1. Jalen Hurd- if the line steps up and Kamara provides immediate help he'll go crazy. He's going to be stronger, faster, and will be seasoned.

2. Chris Weatherd- has elite athleticism and will know the system. His closing speed is ridiculous. Also gets great pop when he makes contact.

3. Todd Kelly Jr. - Kid will be a superstar at safety for us. Once he cleans up a few things the sky is the limit. His Football IQ is off the charts. Brings an edge to the backend at safety for us.

In addition, my understanding was that Dooley did not have a mitigating clause. We payed him $5 million regardless (or irregardless) of what Dallas paid him. The assisant coaches had mitigating clauses, so we only paid the difference of what Chaney or Sunseri were making at their new jobs.

thats what i thought but wasnt sure. another poster said it might have contained a mitigating clause. seems like most coaches dont have them. i bet if muschamp goes to work as the highest paid DC it'll just be extra money.

He's stable and has paid his dues...with the money being shelled out, he also has the coolest seat in CFB history.

Paying dues doesn't mean he is ready for the Florida job.

If that were the case, Chavis would be their top guy.

I can't believe they didn't go for and land a monster name, proven HC

All this for a coach who is 22-16

It's moments like this I am glad I was one of the early ones leading the "just hire Butch Jones" and don't over pay for Charlie Strong threads. :)

UF is out 20 million+ for this dude.

UT spent maybe half that to hire CBJ.

Dave Hart is alright in my book. Had he hired Pearl back, I may have even bought him lunch.

this.

even if he's really a great coach...seems like he improved CSU from a dumpster fire to 10 wins this year (4 of which were one possession games, however). that sample size is way too small for that kind of gamble.

As I already said bad choice of words. Mentally it made sense but I clarified later. With all those studs on the field I see Barnett having trouble putting up record breaking numbers just by sheer fact teams will be scheming for him and other guys will also be making plays. I do not eexpect any kind of drop in play but sack leaders are often stymied or drop some in stats after a record year.

Hey we were only so many points from winning so many more games.

They tried.

UF is merged at the hip with this dude.

Jim McElwain may be a good coach for UF, but good lord that's an underwhelming hire for that program.

You know Maggitt got more sacks though. :)
