Jerry Palm's latest bowl projections have us in the Belk Bowl vs Notre Dame

I'll go absolutely nuts if this happens. Notre Dame is beatable and a well-established/recongnized opponent in which a win would give us a lot of momentum heading into 2015.

CLT is an awesome venue for a bowl game and has a lot of great "uptown" nightlife (not to the extent of Nashville, but similar). Charlotte has a better offering for hotels around their stadium too. Would make it a lot easier for fans to stay in or around the stadium.

Also, getting into NC for a bowl would obviously help our presence in the Carolinas where Butch & Co. have made a push in pulling players out of those states.

Ideal bowl and opponent IMO

Offense better improve significantly or I will join you on the OC hate train.

I'm gonna give them a pass this year.

Yesterday was scary though! Glad we pulled it out!

Bowling!!!
Based on the talent coming back and adding Blair, Kamara, RDA, Mosley I'd say there will be some pressure on the offensive staff to perform. 3rd year in the system too. Undeniable amount of talent. I'd think you could add atleast 10pts to our ppg avg

And Vandy was supposed to be much much worse. They were a play away from sending UT home bowless. Tennessee has a habit of making teams who are not very good play like champions.

Bo Pelini fired at Nebraska.

Not really a surprise. I think the guy is a pretty good coach and IMO could use a change of scenery. Would not be shocked at all to see him do well somewhere else. The guy won at least 9 games every year he's been a HC. IMO some school will get a pretty good coach.

FL, MIchigan?

They just fired a guy with a 67-27 record who has never won fewer than 9 games there.

Must be some behind the scenes issues or something.

I doubt it. Both of those will be looking for more a home run type big splash hire. Pelini IMO would do well to take a job like a Kansas, SMU, USF or something like that. Build it up and the pressure to win now is quite a bit less. He would be a quality DC option in the 750,000.00-1 million range IF he wanted to step back IMO.

2 really good d coordinators available now. wonder which sec teams upgrade

Going into the year I was looking for a couple of things. I personally wanted to see a 7-5 recored, a win on the road to a school other than Vandy, an upset of a higher rated team, and to be competitive in every game and to not get blown out.

While we didn't get 7 regular season victories, we have a great shot at it. Outside of Ole Miss, we didn't get blown out by anybody and were extremely competitive with every team we played. We beat a team not named Vandy on the road, and while we didn't pull an upset we were damn close multiple times.

Overall I am extremely happy with this team and the coaches. I expect the offense will make a huge jump next year like the defense did this year, and I bet the defense will be even better next year. I know people are still gonna ***** about the coaches, but looking at these states you can't help but see progress.

First time winning 3 SEC games in a year since 2010.
First bowl since 2010
Most sacks in a season since 2000, and the first time having over 20 sacks in a season since 2010, and the first time having over 30 sacks since 2005.
First time losing by single digits to Florida since 2006.
Most points and yards put on Bama since 2003.
First time winning on the road against a team other than Vandy or Kentucky since 2007.
First time winning two road games since 2007.

Some of these figures are really impossible to comprehend as a Tennessee fan. While these stats shouldn't be a judge of success in a couple of years, the team had to take some steps forward before it could even thing about taking a huge leap. While I hate losing, the stats above show huge improvements in the program. All of this improvement coupled with the fact that we played 23 freshman this year, and started 11 freshman at various times.

Next year I think we team 119 as SEC east champs.
