Dobbs is not the answer

He took a team that was going nowhere put them on his back and made us bowl eligible what more do you want the kid to do

I think that has been acknowledged multiple times. He's the best we have right now....no doubt.

I think DTO's point is that we are likely at Dobb's ceiling. I don't know that to be the case, but I believe there to be an issue with pre-snap reads, and finding open receivers. He looks at one, maybe two receivers. I counted about 9 times tonight, when he had time and open receivers he's just not seeing. I know the o-line is bad, and the offense is depleted. That makes it that much more important that the QB sees the entire field. Many times he never looks off of the first read.

I like the kid, am glad he's a Vol. His athleticism cannot be denied, or over-emphasized. We don't get to this point without him. I'm just not sure he's the answer long term. I'm as eager as anyone to find that answer, and I don't care who it is.

Curious...what teams have you coached? Did you win a game?

Honest to god, bud, what did you expect tonight? We were a 14 point favorite. Hurd went down which crippled our offense.

I expected about what we got honestly. He didn't do anything different than we've seen before. At this point he is a known quantity....which is exactly why good defenses will cause us trouble.

Ok I'll rephrase that...throw 40 or 50 yard strikes maybe 4 or 5 times a game...hitting receivers in full stride...like Peyton, Claussen and yes Ainge used to do...does that clarify?

All of whom were slower than molasses. We don't run the style of offense that uses a pure pocket passer like those three were.

We aren't going to start running that kind of offense again until Butch retires (which is the best case scenario for our program).

Dude I appreciate the unbiased(agreeing he is our best option) post. And everything you have said has been on point. I was disappointed tonight in his performance and I have been behind dobb's from the beginning(scouts honor). I really believe things are aligned to play out for the better in the future

Nice straw-man argument.

I guess I could ask you about your credentials too since you've expressed your approval. See how that works?

If Dobbs isn't the starter coming out of spring practice, I'll let you have my credentials for Media Days and fall practice.

Deal?

Completely idiotic. He did not have time and no qb has had time all year. Yiu better hope he is tge answer because it won't come next year.
Nothing idiotic about what he posted. A popular saying here on volnation is "if you can't see that your blind". Are you blind? Do you actually watch the games or just get a glimpse of them between drinks?

Dobbs has a problem with his accuracy. Its a known problem, he had problems with it last year and nothing has changed so far this year. Whats idiotic is to completely dismiss the problem and simply trust "that Dobbs will be fine".

No doubt that Dobbs is dynamic and has a whole bunch of an upside. But to dismiss the fact that he has a serious accuracy problem as not being important is simply a conduit for disappointment. Everyone seems to be content with overlooking it because he has played so well in other areas and it hasn't hurt us too bad yet. But when or if it does, you can bet that the tune will change.

Your opinion is valid to you, just as everyone else's is to them. Its really not a bad thing to respect others opinion.

Don't need them...but thanks. Besides, I made no prediction on that issue. The closest I came was saying if Dobbs doesn't learn to read the field better he's going to get serious pressure from the incoming freshmen. Odds are he'll be the starter....I know they want to get back to redshirting the QBs.

Seriously, am I not allowed to express my opinion on this? Do we have to always agree to be fans in good standing of the same team?

Thanks guy....you answered my question. It's obvious you don't know what the f*** you're talking about tonight. In case you didn't know, the Vold won tonight. Good night!

Accuracy problem? He completed 62.5% of his passes through tonight.

He's got a lot of things to improve, but no reason to panic over one game.

Last week vs Missouri he was under pressure and was still generally accurate, but his receivers kept dropping passes, or even worse knocking accurate passes in to the hands of defenders.

Bowl game should be a pretty decent measure. A team will get 3-ish weeks to prepare for him and we'll see how he does vs that.

There was a reason that Dobbs was 3rd on the depth chart to start the season. Yes, he has done some good things with his legs, but the last two games, defenses has begged him to throw, keying in on the fly sweep and the option keep.

It's not a hard concept.....if a team can't pass, they are one dimensional and the opposing defense can key in on the run. There was plenty of times tonight, that Dobbs had time, but was wildly inaccurate. Also, he didn't see wide open receivers. We all understand that problems at OL and I think Dobbs is the best option we have on the roster. Just like I think that some of the OL guys that started tonight are the best option on the roster.

Still doesn't make up for the fact, that I don't think Dobbs is the long term answer. I feel the same way about current lineman.

Clearly though, simple reasoning skills and reading comprehension, are not qualities that many of you have.

He struggled tonight, but Dobbs actually did hit passes vs Missouri. His receivers just decided not to hold on to the passes and bat a perfectly thrown pass to the defender.

Looks really good. A bit deceiving in that the majority of his passes are out in the flatt on screens and swing passes. Look, even the most ardent Dobbs supporters (oddly enough I'm one) know that he has an accuracy problem. It hurt him last year and plagued him all through camp and pre season. One of the biggest reasons they wanted to red shirt him.
