When Tyndall pulls a top 10 class in his first full season then that comparison is fair, not looking very likely though.
Yep. Recruiting is a question mark.
Bonds was at Liberty, under no circumstances should that be your starting SEC PG, just saying. And he's had a couple nice gets, but nothing even close to a top 25 class, never mind a top 10 class like Butch had. His recruiting is a major question, and sure you can use the NCAA as an excuse but that's hisbown fault so he will get no sympathy or pass from me because of it.
I can't say this enough. I totally believe that Donnie Tyndall will do the same thing for Tennessee basketball that Butch Jones is doing for Tennessee football. Winners win no matter whether it's the SEC or the OVC. It's in their blood! They live, breathe, and give their all for their sport. Talking about giving their "All for Tennessee", both of these coaches live it every day. Heck, look at this team put together with 8 newcomers when the Final Signing Date had already past. They just played a game in which they were tied with the number 11 team in the country with 6:49 to go in the game. They are just like the football team, they don't quit. They never quit. I could ride this horse to a win in the Kentucky Derby, but you know where I am coming from. Stand up and fight for this coach and he will take us to the promised land! 'nuff said!
he's a coach! Just went toe to toe with what was the #4 team until kensucky beat them up! Kansas has mcdonald aa's and 5* up and down its roster. Cdt scared the sh!t out of them with bunch thrown together, with the only 5* on the team being a bench player!! I wouldn't judge so hard on recruit rankings and just watch his team! Go vols!!!

If Tyndall ever pulls a top 10 class I will be shocked. Football is absolutely a necessity because it is the nature of the beast. Achieving the creditability of a Cal (cough) takes time and work around to the NCAA. Also, top 10 classes are normally reserved for the established programs that have been around for a while. Tennessee does not have that at all.
Plus it doesn't take a top 10 class to win a NC. It's nice but we are talking about basketball and it is more about Coaching, system and fit.
I don't think a Tyndall Top 10 is a standard we should be focused on, when ijudgeing him as a coach. Chances are he will never get there anyways. If he can do more with less then so be it.
Time will tell. A Loss is a loss and I agree. A crazy called game yesterday but a loss was expected. Time to gel, see what the NCAA does, see the affects on recruiting and see if CDT's system works. That's about all we can do now.
Also, enjoy these players they are beginning to grow on me and a few others. We knew what we had in Moore and Richardson. Waiting on Hubbs and Reese. The others will be fun no matter what the case. Enjoy it versus placing unrealistic expectations on a new team, new system new coach and players.
It is totally sad and unrealistic to compare this situation to the previous staff coach and team because the are behind us and history. We can what if this to death and we have to a degree but it is foolish to do so.
I agree he doesn't need a top 10 class every season, my point was simply you can't try to say he's the Butch Jones of basketball when his recruiting is not even at the level of Derek Dooley of basketball.
While you don't have to have top 10 classes, you do typically need to have top 25 classes to compete regularly on a national level, his first class wasn't, this 2nd class is worse than the 1st and with the NCAA stuff it could hamper the 2016 class.
How naive! It's the coaching! Would like to know how he won 29 games last year with second tier recruiting?? Now, with Tennessee facilities, all bets are off! This guy can coach circles around Cuonzo Martin. Pity the California Bears if they face the Vols in a year or two!I agree he doesn't need a top 10 class every season, my point was simply you can't try to say he's the Butch Jones of basketball when his recruiting is not even at the level of Derek Dooley of basketball.

lol! right, I'm not a Vol fan. You guys should dig up your posts from last year and show the newbies what non Vol fans sound like. Only non Vols would put down a S16 berth. I mean we've had so many, that's no biggie at all.

Try not to be so realistic. What has he done to show he can coach circles around Martin?
I hope CDT wins here but be real. People are straight making up things and changing facts to make excuses for CDT and make Martin look worse. Martin won 27 at a lower tier school. That didn't automatically make him a great coach.
I have seen posters claim we rebound harder now than we ever did under Martin. How ? We execelled in that area with tthe last team. Those teams would out rebound this team by a large margin.
People are claiming that the offense looks better or is more exciting. How? By scoring less than Martin's teams? I have heard people still claiming that CDT has a fast paced exciting O. Have you watched the games? His o is like I said. Martin pace or a little slower.
When CDT matches what Martin did with a similar roster and preseason predictions I'll say he is as good.
When hr beats some ranked teams and rivals and pulls in a couple of top 20 classes I'll say he is the Butch of bball.
Be realistic and unbiased. People are making so many excuses for things they complained about before. Its pitiful.
