Ferguson Riots

A 12 yr old boy was killed in Ohio for having a toy gun. The same thing happened, I think, in Oakland last year. I think these cases are only going to get more and more publicity.

He had removed the thing that helps identify it as a bb gun and pointed it at the officer when told to drop the weapon.

Franklin Pierce is, as you say, considered by the liberal historians to be one of the worst presidents in history. Primarily because Pierce was a Southern sympathizer, just as Frank Roosevelt had a great respect for the Southern people and their way of life.

Pierce was a man of strong character and integrity, which stands in stark contrast to one of the most corrupt and incompetent presidents in history and who now sits in the Oval Office.

I'm not shocked that a president who supported slavery was your favorite.

He was elected only because of Nathaniel Hawthorne's biography of him that was completely made up. Sorry but this isn't a liberal conservative issue. He was terrible, which is evident in his handling of the Nebraska/Kansas situation. Oh yeah, he repealed wanted to repeal the Missouri Compromise which is the most direct cause of the CW.

Oh yeah and he drank himself to death. High character there.

Standing in the middle of a busy highway during holiday travel is not very smart. Who came up w/that stupid idea? Go out there & stand on I-40 & see if an 18 wheeler will stop for ya.

It's what you do when nobody gives a s*** about your stupidity but the president condones it and police are told to do nothing.

With all of the bad police actions we know of. Why in the world pick this loser to back and riot for? My thoughts are the initial bullshat report that he was shot while surrendering and the dummies doubled down in the face of evidence proving otherwise.

It is baffling. Watching the media making Brown into a mythological figure makes you sometimes wonder if you're not watching North Korean Television.

And he left out the important fact the toy had the orange safety colored muzzle removed to make it look far more real.

I use to do this as a kid because it made me feel grown up. I should have been shot numerous times for such an atrocious violation.

It's hard to say what should be done in that situation, but there has to be a better way then killing the kid. Has to be.

I agree with this. However I can also understand the cops point of view. I'm not waiting until rounds are flying at me to fire when someone is pointing a weapon in my direction.

How many times did you wave it at cops while making threatening retorts? (I didn't follow this one as much as others so not exactly sure what happened here)

I was watching the same thing as you guys, but it's not as simple as you are making it out to be. All of the witnesses have conflicting stories; all of them. The only one the has been somewhat consistent is that of Officer Wilson, who had the most to lose in the situation. That's all I'm saying. We will NEVER really know what happened. Ever.

So based on the evidence that was presented to the grand jury they chose not to indict, and if I had been in the same situation I would have voted for the same thing. The grand jury made the right decision, but that doesn't mean I or the people of color around America have to like it. That's where you are getting confused: you think because I am sympathetic that I think the grand jury got it wrong; I don't.

So, wait a minute... You don't like the fact that a grand jury made the right decision?

As an aside (and I'm sure I'm about to be labeled a racist by some):

While I appreciate the outrage that the Mike Brown case, along with the other police-involved shootings referenced, have caused, it strikes me as telling that we can so easily identify all of these cases. Yet, I'm fairly certain that not one of us would be able to name more than one of the black-on-black murders that happen on a daily basis in most major cities. It's like being able to name every cruise ship that has ever sunk, but not being able to name every car that has ever crashed. The fact is that these police-involved shootings are exceedingly rare when compared to black-on-black violence, but they get infinitely more coverage.

I don't mean to say that these incidents aren't important. While they are rare, they aren't rare enough. But the attention that these incidents receive masks the real epidemic that is constantly taking the lives of young black men in this country.

Which means they're also capable of shooting a cop. And therefore the actions were justified.

If the mind of 12 yr old is the same then why do we prosecute them differently? Had he shot and killed the cop, do you think he would have been tried as an adult? It's possible, but highly unlikely.

I was not allowed to play with guns as a kid. Guns are not toys.

Kid did something stupid. Kid lost his life. Parents lost their kid. Cop will be living with this for the rest of his life.
