Official Global Warming thread (merged)

"If we don't know how much ice is there is, we can't validate the models we use to understand the global climate," Maksym told Live Science. "It looks like there are significant areas of thick ice that are probably not accounted for."

I'm not educated enough in the science to argue about it, and, from what I've read, neither is anyone else that's graced this thread.

we all just know its effing frigid and its not even offically winter - a mild winter comes - then I will believe but not now

Clearly, you don't understand what climate change or global warming means. I at least know that it has nothing to do with how warm or cold you or I feel.

I just wanted to know what you think it means, I didn't want a smart ass comment. I now know I made the mistake of asking you a question that pertained to anything science-related.

If you believe your statement above why would you ask anyone anything?

You said above no one knows enough to have a substantive opinion.

I said they're not educated enough to argue it, but everyone's going to offer their opinion. I wasn't going to argue your opinion, I just wanted to know what it was. Bart's trampling around, acting like he's citing good sources but I see he's not. Others offer up obviously biased sources against climate change/global warming/whatever.

I simply said leave it to the scientists and let them do their job, which is to report and interpret the findings without bias.

So you don't believe Al Gore that the science is settled? We neither.

Why would I come on this website for anything other than someone's opinion?

It's simple. You have admitted you don't know much about science and your posts reflect that. So you seek the opinions of others to try and validate or boost your intellectual ineptitude in science. By getting your posts liked by ones who share your convoluted views, it brings you the validation you require.

You're an idiot. I said I don't know much about climate science. I know plenty in other fields. I can read studies and form my own damn opinion, unlike most posters here that rely on blogs to do so.

I don't even know how many likes I have or care. That's irrelevant.

Quick question:

If global warming wasn't politicized like it is today and if it didn't siphon millions upon millions of dollars from the economy, would it change your stance? If Al Gore wasn't the face of the movement, but a group of scientists were instead, would it change your opinion?

The problem is the US is only part of planet earth. While we stifle our economy other nations are sticking their middle finger up at us and reaping the rewards
