Why did the cops ask Vol fan to sit down last night?

Imo there are times to stand. I don't stand the entire time, but on third down or a key period on defense I'm definitely up.
People are honestly crybabies about it these days though.

Example, at the bama game this season after we drew to within 10 I believe, me and my group stood on multiple 3rd Downs/big plays while we were on defense. The people in the row behind us were moaning and bit$#ing about it.
If its me and people stand while I'm sitting, I don't care. Its a freaking football game, I expect it. If I can't see I stand or wait til they sit. Idk, some people take it to the point where its rude, but some people want everything their way and expect everyone to sit if they are. Fans at neyland have definitely gone downhill over the years.

Maybe the cop's last gig was working TBA back in the Jerry Green/Buzzy days?

STG, I had an usher there ask me to sit when I stood during a tense moment in a game there. Interesting fact, my seat was on the last row of the lower bowl and there was a 7-foot concrete wall behind me.

When I was a student at UT, the only time people who sat at Stokeley were Kentucky fans suffering through yet another loss to the Vols.

I don't think anyone stands to purposely block someone's view. They stand because they're at a football game. Pretty simple.

Are you truly this self-centered and unaware of others? It doesn't matter if you are "purposely" blocking someone's view; if you're in their way, you're in their way.

Others are at the game too, and they don't necessarily want your butt taking up their field of vision. Good God almighty.

People don't seem to understand they have rights. Standing us a right and not illegal. Some of you wish we lived in a freakin police state.

People pay for seats, not a place to stand. Has anybody ever asked what section you're standing in? My guess is you'll find out the hard way and your face will greet the hood of a patrol car in the near future. Carry on bruh

A cop can write you a ticket for disobeying his order. If he tells you to sit and you refuse, have fun showing up to court and paying that fine + court costs

LOL. Can the cop order me to go get him a donut, too?

Sorry. I meant no disrespect to cops there, but your comment is ridiculous. You may freely disobey ANY order a cop gives you if they have no lawful right to be giving it.

Go for it. Next time a cop asks you to do something and you don't, get ready to show up to court and pay at least $100 in court costs

So then why does everybody stand up? Except for you I mean.

They're asking for noise..... When the home team qb waves his arms do you think he's telling the crowd he wants them to sit down? I think you may have dropped one too many hits of acid.

I never said I don't stand at all either.

Somebody doesn't understand the authority of a cop. You could call Colin Powell to address the situation, in the end you do what the cop says or get escorted out. The dummies that stand have yet to figure out their view is exactly the same as if they were sitting.

Neyland Stadium is considered to be the property of the University of Tennessee. Any KPD officers invited onto the premises to help police the game are subject to rules set forth by those who manage the property. Police authority is limited when acting on private property.

That is why our home field advantage has not been so great over the years. Too many old people sitting. Not enough standing and cheering. Especially at basketball games.

Don't clutter all these old folks with knowledge. Doesn't compute.

Cops rule us all!

While I get your point, you're one of those guys we all see from time to time getting their asses kicked by the police for no other reason than being a confrontational shmuck.

So that gives cops the right to kick someone's ass? Man you're whipped by the system. Grow a pair.

No, he cannot. A judge would laugh him out of court if he didn't outright seek to have him dismissed from the force. The authority of the police is limited when they are taking action on private property to which they have been invited.
