Ferguson Riots

25 yards maybe. 50 yards no way in hell. 25 is a stretch with an expert marksman under the circumstances.

siap.....School district near Ferguson cancels classes for Monday & Tuesday citing "potential unrest" if the grand jury comes back with a failure to indict officer Darren Wilson. The school district had already planned to shut down Wednesday through Friday because of Thanksgiving. :peace2: Carry on w/distance shooting.

Be thankful we have Grand Jury's and National Guard troops.

Thank you! Iron sights at 50 yards, lol. I think Defendthishouse hasn't really been to a shooting range with a hand gun. Certainly not popping off rounds at 50 yards.

You would be very wrong hoss. I've been shooting all my life and I'm a pretty dam good shot if I do say so myself.

I understand cops normally shoot like shat, I see it all the time at the range. That said a 50 yard shot is not a very difficult shot with a standard glock 22, which is what I assume was used. You would have to take into account body alarm response as well as tunnel vision. But it can be done. Especially considering the dispersment of the rounds.

I'm counting 8 hits on target. The glock 22 holds 15 rounds with one in the pipe for 16 total rounds. We have no idea how many shots were fired and missed.

Next time you're at the range walk off 50 yards and have a go, you'll see with practice it's not hard. Granted you won't have the body alarm response that he had but you should see about the same results. If you do your part.

I'm not being an arrogant azz here, I shoot a lot and have kept all rounds on the center cavity from chest to belly at 50 yards regularly. So it is what it is. I carry a gun for defense, it's my obligation to not be a liability to society with my firearm.
Cheers.

50 yards with any handgun is hard.

It's not even a question of accuracy in my mind. (though an actual live target engagement after having been in a fight with your adrenaline up it'd be some fine shooting) No, when you look at how far that is I pretty much reject the officer engaged the guy at that distance. If that was what actually happened I don't think we'd even be having the discussion right now.

It would be interesting to know what the actual distance from Wilson to Brown was when the latter went down.

I too shoot a lot. And I'm telling you right now under the conditions, that kind of shooting is damn near impossible even with the dispersion of his shots.

Issue Glock, injured cop, stressful situation, 50 yards, head shots, (typically) lack of proficiency training.

Not exactly an equation for reliable hits. I've shot at 50 yard for fun mainly and I can keep the hits in center mass most of the time. And that's with a match barrel and trigger on a full size 1911. Head shots? Don't even give it a try because statistically it's hard to pull off under good circumstances, much less far from ideal.

There is a world of difference between popping off shots with a handgun @ 50m on the range vs doing it in a real life scenario.

The person who posted the article looks for any impropriety to blame the cops for. And likely would believe what the Daily Kos puts out because it says Wilson was in the wrong.
Please show me the post where I said I agree with the article, better yet, please post where I said the cop was in the wrong. I posted the article for info purposes, it was sent to me so I passed it along. If you'll notice I even noted in my original post "if this is true" buts it's ok, I'm a cop hater and that's all you will see. I've not followed this as closely as some of you.

For the record, if brown fled, determining where the shots were fired from isn't hard, look for the brass, that will get you pretty close, within 6-10 feet I'd say.

I have a question. Is the guy to the right in the photo Wilson? If so, he looks pretty good for a guy that just had his eye socket crushed. Well, that is what was reported right?
Then there is the video.
New Ferguson Videos Show Darren Wilson After Fatally Shooting Michael Brown - ABC News

I have no doubt Brown was a bad dude, judging from the store video. But, I don't think a box of swisher sweets are quite worth dying for. Oh well, like anything else we will probably never know the real truth of exactly what happened that day. I'm not assigning blame to anyone here. It is what it is, a man died and a man most likely lost his job and his anonymity for the rest of his life that day. Sad all around.

They weren't at the range and statistics from both police shootings and military combat operations would tell a much different story.
