Yes. Personally, I believe all loopholes should be closed and exemptions (like mortgage interest) eliminated. If we must pay an income tax, it should be a flat 15% for all income levels.

1. People weren't paying more taxes during most of the 1900s than they are now because of loopholes

And

2. Their are more loopholes now.

How does that work? Because haven't you now stated both of those things?

You should first learn the difference between a loophole, an exemption, and a deduction.

There isn't a problem of overpopulation within the middle and upper classes, there is actually a decline in birthrates. This is not attributed to any free or reduced birth control programs. There is a problem with overpopulation among the dependent/poor class that no amount of free birth control will fix. Why you ask.

Having multiple children actually increases government support (income) for the dependent/poor economic bracket. They are rewarded through welfare, ACA and other government assistance programs for irresponsibility. There is your root cause.

Actually, the difference is relevant. Deductions and exemptions are legal. Loopholes aren't necessarily illegal, but they are ways to exploit poorly written law.

Do you know that we once were able to write off ALL interest paid? Car, house, boat, plane, credit cards, all of it. A company used to be able to give country club memberships to executives without it being counted as income.

I do want to eliminate most of government assistance. The only people who truly need it are the elderly and the disabled. I want no part of health insurance because I am very healthy. I don't want to pay for people who need it. It's not my obligation or problem.
