AJ Johnson Accused of Sexual Assault

no. we pegged them as suspects. That information was never given out.

Either way, it does not look good for these kids. I hope that justice is served one way or the other.

Hopefully our team is staying focused on the task at hand and Jones is using this as a teaching opportunity. Young men representing the University of Tennessee should not be out partying until 3am. Especially one who's already been in trouble for an alocohol-related incident in the past year.

This is what I don't get.

If they are "suspects" then why are they not in custody?

Innocent until proven guilty. Only in a police state would a suspect be held in custody, who poses no threat and is not a flight risk.

Partying until 3 am is the reality of college aged kids, I did a few jaagerbombs with peyton at 3 am back in my school days, sometimes on the nights BEFORE the game. We went 'HAM' and that's just the life of college kids.

Because they have not had charges pressed against them yet

I'm not a cop.

But if there is evidence of wrong doing, and enough to label them suspects then why do the cops need to turn it over to the DA?

Cops have the power to arrest. No need to wait around on a DA.

Maybe I watch too many cop shows.

because they are still gathering enough evidence to put them in custody. Just a shot in the dark.

Evidence, my dear Watson. If they did a rape kit (which i read they did on one victim) it make take a few days to get the results back.

Plus, they need to question potential witnesses (party goers, victim, suspects, etc.).

These things take time. I would say if charges are going to be filed, they will be by tomorrow afternoon. All speculation tho.

What I mean is something like this happens.. right before Mizzou.

Not that the situations are the same.

Someone pee in your cheerio's this
morning?

Actually what you said was "the same thing happened to Gurley directly before the Missouri game only to find out it was complete BS." Maybe you should go back and read what you wrote so you will know. The Gurley situation wasn't complete BS but had nothing to do with a sexual assault.. So it's a Missouri conspiracy? No nobody pissed on my cherios but there is absolutely no comparison between the two events. Sorry I like to read fact over fiction. You can't just post whatever sounds good and not expect to be called out.

there's evidence, but not enough yet would be the best bet. If I shoot myself in the arm and then go tell the police "Obsessed shot me, he got mad because I don't like the new Mustang and shot me," that's not enough evidence to put you in custody.

KPD releases incident report

Student accuses UT football players Johnson, Williams of rape - News Sentinel Story

Not in any way diminishing the serious nature of this incident. But, if one woman says the episode lasted 45 minutes and files a rape charge, yet the other woman present does not want to file charges, there are some real contradictions, along with the fact that after such a serious scenario, the woman not pressing charges returns to another state. You'd have to assume the two women knew each other and are/were friends. Something is amiss here IMO.

Doubt this, but I was 21 once and in college, partying my arse off.

However, I didnt have a full ride and a chance to not only play football for the University of Tennessee but potentially the NFL...

And like I said, if a guy's already been in trouble, he's closing in on his LAST GAME at Neyland Stadium, you'd want to believe that he was a little more mature than going out til 3am.

But that's just me.

Ok. I see what you are saying.

I guess the whole "forcible rape" charge would be obvious.... Bruises and such...

Btw if you don't like the new mustang, you should be shot :)

Peyton Manning? The night before a game? Sorry, can't buy that. The team is sequestered the night before games. Peyton doesn't seem to be the kind of guy who would sneak out of the hotel to pound drinks at 3 a.m. the night before a game...

In a hotel room under the watchful eyes of assistant coaches, even for home games. I think this poster has had one too many jager bombs... lol

From what I have heard from Law Enforcement. Is that basically they take statements from Accuser, gather as much info and evidence as possible. File the report, turn it over to DA. The DA then executes warrants if there is enough evidence.
Apparently these things are not as cut and dry as you would think. The only way you would possibly get arrests on site is if they actually caught perpetrator in the act. Now Tennessee Law may differ, and I know the wording isn't exact.

No not Peyton Manning, just my buddy named Peyton. I only graduated 2 years ago.
