I was trying to figure out what the hell you were talking about... In one breath you say you can't hold their schedule against them, then you make an argument citing their schedule.

Looking strictly at wins and losses is not a good indicator precisely because of schedule. You say you can't hold it against the Cardinals because they were dealt an easier schedule. Likewise, you can't hold it against the Broncos because they were dealt a more difficult schedule. So to your 'no duh' response - if you want to looks at wins and losses, you have to do in context of their SOS. All ratings that take that into account rate the Broncos higher - and reaffirms what I see on the field.

key words trick you. I'll remember that from now on. "Slightly". Big time word in my comment. Arizona still has played a very formidable schedule as I pointed out. Thus, you can't pretend like they don't make sense. You can still argue for Denver, but as I've said, you can't just throw out Arizona like you are.

At this moment:
1) New England
2) Denver
3) Arizona

Of course this list seems to change from week to week. Also I have no issue with Arizona being number 2. I can see the logic there. However at this moment, the Patriots are playing better than anyone else by a good margin.

To those who have chosen "other", I would love to here your picks and logic for said picks.

Detroit Lions

The Arizona Cardinals and Detroit Lions are currently the top two seeds in the NFC.

New England and Denver are currently the top two seeds in the AFC.

Hey Bill, just because I disagree with you, no need to be an ass.

I'm not dismissing Arizona by any means. They certainly have quality wins - I think moreso than any team in the NFL except Denver. I think they're a top 5 team probably even #3. I just don't think they're #1 based on the reasons I laid out.

It's one thing to word it that way, it's completely different to act like they don't have a place in the discussion as you have been.

Easily the cardinals

Their defense is first rate, offense is kickass also does enough to score enough points.
They are playing like a team of destiny to become the first nfl team to play a Super Bowl in their own stadium.

If the Lions win these two games back to back on the road you have to give them the top spot.
Sun, Nov 16 @ Cardinals 4:25 PM
Sun, Nov 23 @ Patriots 1:00 PM

You mean their run defense is first rate. Their pass defense is ranked dead last.

They actually aren't ranked last (I assume you meant total yards surrendered) they are 20th in YPG surrendered, but that's misleading because they play with a lot of leads.

They have a weak pass rush, but their pass D is actually pretty good. They lead the league in INTs, they are average in Y/ATT, and tied for top 10 in TDs surrendered.

NFL Stats: by Team Category

Arizona is dead last in total pass defense

Stats must not have updated when I looked at that.

Even still, they are 8th in opposing QB passer rating. Like I said, they give up a lot of yards because the other team is playing from behind. 13 TDs and 12 INTs. That's pretty damn good. Only 3 teams have a better margin than that.

The cards defense was opportunistic today as they easily exposed the rams scoring tds on defense.
Gives me dejavu of the 2002 bucs defense.

Does this change with Arizona losing their QB for the season?

Honestly, I don't think they fall off that much. I was really impressed with Stanton. If you protect Palmer, he will sit back and pick apart the D, no question, but if you can't protect him you are screwed. Stanton can make plays when the pocket breaks down, and he's been a really good game manager. He will never make his offense as lethal as Palmer, but in some ways he makes them better.

As a Detroit fan and us playing at Arizona this Sunday, last thing I wanted to hear.

Well, my post is based on the bad assumption that he will continue to play the way he has. He's only thrown 90 passes in the last 4 years, so it's not like we really know what to expect.

Yes because beating the god awful Bears and the Mark Sanchez led Eagles at home makes you the best team.

butthurt because it's not the Patriots. it's ok...
