Why do people think firing coaches is the answer?

It really does not matter if CBJ wins or loses. He is here for a long time. We have no money to hire anyone else anyway. This season is a bust and next season will probably be the same. Might as well pick a new sport......how are we in soccer?

Apparently UT is the most amazing place that is so easy to step on the field and blow it up in year 2 against a tough SEC.

Tell Mizzou that who won the East in yr two or A'M who beat Ala in yr one oris what Franklin did atyou Vandy in a very short time. Not saying we should be competing for the East this yr but improvement and a bowl isn't too much to ask.especially everyone playing 12 games now, it shouldn't be that hard getting to a bowl.

Well when Coach's get and demand the salaries the salaries they get then it turns into a win soon mentality. These Coach's honestly are overpaid a nd some more than others. I know their jobs are stressful but nothing like Teachers, Dr's that save lives and even the president. Yea we all love our football and are very passionate about our teams, but lets face it their jobs aren't as important as the few I listed and get paid way more. So basically if you are getting that kind of money you are expected to win now or very soon and if you don't someone will replace you that will.
True, but I think their pay is based off of what each sport brings in (money wise) to the university.
I would love to see a good teacher make more than a rap artist but there is ups and downs to our system.

Yes. Our line situation is that bad. This is what you call an anomaly. The least experienced line ever, and had injuries in the line factored in as well.

Oh, lol, this may happen and it's not going to go well. Mahoney has to prove he can recruit and coach. So far, it seams he can't do either very well. I'm willing to let it play out, but if we only win 4 games and CBJ makes no changes he better be ready to win 7-8 games next year, which we won't be able to do IMO. Our roster is a disaster at QB and OL right now, but people aren't going to accept 4 win seasons. I agree with your stance on this matter, but understand most fans aren't going to be singing high praises if we only win 4 games this year. CBJ would have to make a change, because if he doesn't he'll be gambling his job in the hopes that Mahoney can turn it around by next year.

Right now, fans will except 6 wins as a reason to give him a raise

Tells you all you need

No we have already had an extensive thread on pay in the sec. Butch and his staff are where they need to be in that regard according to the consensus on the topic. You can go back and look that one up.

Money will never be an issue for SEC schools, especially the more traditional ones. That's what Boosters are for, Bowl money every team gets a share of and now TV contracts with CBS, SEC Network and ESPN plus seen games on fox1 and foxss. UT is not broke and boosters will give money to get UT what they need. Not even an issue there.

I have 4 concern levels. Next year I believe some real lines in the sand should exist for coaches.

Low but genuine concern:
no bowl game this year

Mid and growing concern:
no ranked/rival sec victory next year but bowl game is made -
Position coach may need to go

High:
no bowl game next year - a coordinator needs to go; Bajakian very likely

Defcon 1: all bets off
We lose to Vandy with Mason

Speaking as a guy who would love to see CBJ be the head man on The Hill for a long time... if he loses to that disorganized dumpster fire in Nashville... that would be a Dooleyesque offense.

I don't want him fired any time soon as it would set the program back even further and I have no trust in the administration and Hart to hire a competent replacement. We have to give him a real chance, no one is disputing that.

Having said that, I don't think we'll accomplish anything close to our ceiling as a program as long as he's our coach, hope I'm wrong.

Coach's are only as good as the guys they surround themselves with. Butch is a very good Coach, he has the right Coach's on the defensive side of the ball but needs a major upgrade at OC, QB Coach and Oline Coach. We are very good at WR and RB Coach as well. But Bajakian is out of his league as OC, QB Coach at UT. He is a midmajor type OC, not the best conference in college football OC. And not so sure on the Oline Coach either. We have a Beast recruiter in Jones as well in Martinez, Thig and ZA in particular. We have some really good recruiters but need that OC and Oline Coach that also are not only good recruiters but that can develop players and be a good playcaller.

The key is not to even think about football anymore. This season is a bust. Just go ahead and accept the fact that we are going to continue this losing trend for a long time. CBJ & Company are doing the best they know how to do...they can't help it if their skill level is a little below the average. We just have to accept it and move on. CBJ dresses nice though.

Folks want to fire coaches , because IT has worked so well so far . fing silly.

Technically hiring bad coaches has worked poorly. Although I am with you. Surely everyone though has some limits in their mind of when you say ok I've seen enough. I genuinely asked what that was for whomever has though about it.

Firing MORE Coaches is not very smart . but that is the VN way.

Butch is married to Bajakian and this crap offense. Even if he's forced to fire Baja at some point, the offense will never change as long as Butch is HC; it's his system.
