Why is UT 0-3 in the Sec Championship Game and 2-5 in Bowl Games this decade?

I am a UT fan but what does it matter if we win the Outback Bowl this year - what's the difference between 9-5 or 10-4, both are medicore seasons, 10 win seasons are good when you only play 12 games, when you play 14 games you should always win at least 10. I'd just assume lose and maybe just maybe during this generation I'll get to see someone coach the big orange. Fulmer is outdated, at one time he had this program at the top level but now we're back to a top 25 program..

The man is 23-14 in his last three years. It don't matter what he did in 1942, what has he done the last 3-4 yrs. He hasn't won a conference championship in nine years.

Fulmers 0-3 v/s Urban Meyer (0-4 after next Sept) he can't beat Saban, this year's Ala team couldn't beat Knox Catholic but Saban could beat Fulmer with Gibbs High School team. He wins every other year v/s Richt..

If 2-5 in bowl games is good enough to keep you around maybe if we lose the next few we'll see a change.

well I cant go so far as to say I hope we lose. I always hope we win no matter what. Besides that our AD has allready stated that phil is his man. It wouldnt matter if we did lose this game. I am hoping for the best next year but phil will get a free pass next season too. The qb situation is his "get out of jail free card". With the big money boosters solidly behind phil it will take alot more than losing to wisconsin in a bowl game for Hamilton to make any changes.

Why is UT 0-3 in the SECCG....

1. Most cases we were lucky to get there.
2. The reason for the losses were sub-par coaching.

with all due respect, that logic is more modern. I'm an "old soul" too, but I think you have to take into consideration the context of time.

You have to take into consideration the context of the current game, because let's be honest, we're ONLY talking about how you can win NOW -- not how we USED to win. Execution is a big part of football, of course, and i'm not throwing in the towel on traditional SEC football, BUT with our poor success rate on 3rd down, a mobile QB could make all the difference in the world. It's a lot easier to call a 3rd and 4 pass play if you've got somebody back there that can run for the 1st down.

peyton is going at lot farther in the pros than either martin or shuler ever dreamed of, but if i were picking a team to play in the SEC i'd take T or heath.

surely your talking about taking the teams they were on and not them as QBs over Manning?

The SEC conference almost always have a winning record in bowl games, but UT is 2-5 this decade

and 0-3 in the SEC Championship Game. Why do you think the post season play has been so bad?

Because by the end of the season you guys are all out of magic dust and the new shipment doesn't get here until Feburary?

have we mentioned yet today that UF didn't quite make the SECCG and is destined for a bowl similar that that of UT, who you drilled 59-20?

Moreover, did we mention that you were dead wrong about the gal in your avatar?

No on the first one, but I've already said about 20 times that Outback and Capital One, to me, are almost equal. So close that, for our purposes here, there is no meaningful difference.

On the second one, I've seen enough posts about it to figure that you are right and that it isn't the same girl and that the girl in my avatar has never even met Tim Tebow. And??? I still like her as my avatar. Don't you?

It's going to be harder for the guys to add the Florida tatoo legs to this one (as they did your last one) with her in the water and all, but I hope they are on it!

The first alteration was in poor taste albeit funny.

But to tinker with the perfection in my current avatar would simply be blasphemous!

She does look fine as is. On the other hand, I wondered if they could add those legs to Tebow.

But maybe they should wait until after he wins the Heisman tomorrow--to be in good taste (as if that matters to us UT fans, huh?).

The two loses in the Peach bowls were plainly piss poor efforts by coaches and players.

that Maryland thrashing felt very similar to this year's AL game. Getting absolutely drilled by an inferior team is just an awful feeling.

At least the team showed up for a half against Alabama this season. Sitting through that Peach Bowl loss to Maryland was miserable. Worst game I've seen the Vols play ever. Not due to mistakes, you could just see that the players didn't want to be there at all. After awhile, I didn't want to be there either.

Don't know about the Championship game, but the bowl games could be because they feel like some of the posters on this board feel, and that is that the bowl games are meaningless.

This year's UF and Alabama games were equally pitiful, IMO. Those were thrashings and should have been embarrassing to everyone involved.

Why is UT woefully pathetic in recent Bowl Games?

Coaching, no other excuse is acceptable. UT usually has superior talent, facilities, fanbase, money, support, tradition and did I mention $$$ again & least not ever forget we play in the mighty SEC.

I ask you to go back & review the recent Bowl Games UT's been involved with: Nebraska, Clemson, KS St and even the lowly MD. Terps. each team mentioned knew how & usually exactly how to stop all 10-12 plays UT has on its play sheet.
MY FELLOW FANS THAT IS HOW UT IS 0-3 IN SECCG & THAT'S AS FAR AS IT GOES.

One of my best friends is a Terp, so I still hear about that game roughly ten times a year. One of these years we're going to play Maryland in a crappy bowl game again, and I'm going to be the only one happy about the matchup because I would really love to shut him up.

Casey Clausen and Mark Jones played their tails off in the loss to Clemson. The defense just decided to take the day off.

I'd take Manning, Tee, Andy Kelly, and maybe Casey Clausen over Heath.
