and you also can't dispute the regular season head to head matchups for 65 teams is utterly meaningless, espeically for the 5-8 teams from each power conference that get in.

The only way those games are meaningless is if said team goes winless in the regular season and then lucks up and wins their confrence tourney. Pearl has stated that games like UT played in Chatt this past Tuesday will look good to the selection committee come selection time. The regular season serves the purpose of allowing teams to make their case in the non confrence schedule, then the confrence portion is spent positioning yourself for your confrence tournament.

i don't know that that's ever happened.

but my point is really based around the fact that no one cares if you win your conf, ie FL two years ago didn't even win their division in the SEC, TN swept them in the reg season, and they went on to win the national title.

so i would conetend that beating FL twice in the reg season had no real bearing on FL's season on the whole. nor did beating them for us mean all that much either.

i would hate it if that were possible in football. think about that...beat FL in the reg. season, win the SEC and at the end of it all, who cares, both are still inthe playoff with the same chance to win the national title? and that possibility actually would exist for GA this year if there were such a playoff. not for me thank you.

It would bring a true champion finally. You couldnt get 4 or 5 people saying they deserved a shot beacause they had a shot. Boise state went undefeated last year even in the bowl game. Hawaii has gone undefeated this year. I dont think they will beat GA but then again I didnt think Boise State could beat Oklamhoma last year.
The excuse is they havent played anyone. a playoff would fix just that.

with that mindset, then i'd say Tennessee should secede from the SEC and go dominate the MAC or something then.

the playoff is now a reward for not playing anyone? and the reasoning behind that is...well they will when they get in? :nono:
