Dobbs worked with the 1s today!

So you're letting one play define a QB?

Just doing the same for people who bring up his TD run that was wiped out vs Vandy. That one play didn't excuse the rest of the game's crappy performance. Let's drop the UK were world beaters crap while we are at it.

Well, I didn't bring up that play and I certainly don't let half a true freshman's season define them.

Listen gang we got bigger stuff to worry about like if we should rip the goal posts down. @

Exactly my point. People are saying he is the best QB yet he is third on the depth chart for a reason. I doubt he has seriously made massive strides in practice to warrant a start.

Wouldn't you like to at least know for sure? What have we got to lose? A redshirt?

Dobbs is a bust, as it sits right now. There is a reason that he is behind Peterman and it has nothing to do with his possible future time in the program. He's a smart guy, but from what I hear (from a former starting national championship player) his arm strength is lacking and he can't make some of the throws. They are working on it. Take it for what its worth, which I know won't be much for those of you that are pinning for him to play.

*penning

You're the one who acted like a win over UK was equal to winning over SC. That's absurd.

No, I didn't. I was mentioning that Dobbs can win in the SEC. He did it as a freshman. Worley beat one team, as a senior, and had to get bailed out by his WR. Worley is nothing special.

So how do you feel about Peterman? Are you in the boat that says he's done based on his freshman year of playing time?

Don't you know? Dobbs gets almost an entire half season of bad to average play and is still considered our QB savior. Peterman is damned based on about 10 plays in highly pressured situations.

I don't know about that. I did notice his running ability vs Chatt though. Much better than Worley.

Peterman had a rep for being fast and a running threat out of high school. He also has the strongest and most accurate arm among the QB's. That's why he moved ahead of Dobbs and challenged Worley for #1 this summer. Worley was chosen for his game management skills.

This is what I've gathered after skimming this thread...

1.) Dobbs got extensive work with the 1s

2.) Peterman got extensive work with the 1s and Dobbs backed him up

3.) Worley sat out momentarily with a minor injury before returning with the 1s

So, what in the actual hell happened at practice today?

He's better than Dobbs. And as mentioned, Dobbs was bailed out against UK.

If Worley is nothing special, then Dobbs is crap.

I know. A lot of people know it but are scared of Peterman having to play based off his 38 minutes career playing time. There is nothing Dobbs can do vs Bama that would mean he is still the third string QB this week. I'd take peterman over Dobbs because peterman has been thrown to the wolves on the road in his three games. He handled the last well. Playcalling killed his mojo at UGA on his second and third series. He has never started a game in a sold out big game in Neyland. Rather have someone who's faced it on the road than someone who hasn't played in a year and didn't make the jump from playing last 4 games to contending for the starter spot in Dobbs

Dobbs made his debut in Tuscaloosca, but didn't look amywhere near as bad as Peterman. Peterman literally hasn't shown pontential yet. Dobbs has. That's why there are so little Peterman supporters.

Yeah, But if our below average senior QB always throws INT's and gets himself sacked(always blamed on OL).....what difference does it make? Can Dobbs be worse? no....he can run and may make better decisions.

Make which throws? deep passes? We don't attempt those anyway.
Does having a strong arm have anything to do with consistently making decisions to throw into heavy coverage costing us game after game?(as a senior)
How does arm strength help a QB's decision making?
Does it really matter? He is not playing and there is a reason for it. Why is that so hard for you to understand? Its like proving a negative.

I'm just stating what I was told.

Burning Dobbs's redshirt shouldn't even hurt us too much in the coming years. If our incoming qb's aren't ready by their Jr (or soph in the case of Kendall), then we might have a problem.

How do you draw the conclusion that Dobbs is crap? We saw him for half a season. We've seen Worley for over a season now and he just isn't SEC quality. In no way is Dobbs the savior yet, but counting him out is ignorant.

You can't make the case against Worley and then go straight to the third string skipping Peterman

...and one (Florida) with a broken thumb. Peterman deserves a real shot. However, throwing Peterman to the wolves again against Bama with no offensive line is not a good idea.
