He's a good person. His past and present players are going to stick up for him. Question is not his heart. It's his declining accomplishments over the past nine years.

I know he wants to win and it is in his heart....but when you have been doing the same thing year in and year out for 35+years.... Dealing with Kids and face it our children have changed the last 20, 10, 5 years... They are much softer and you must treat them tenderly.... With these young players, it is harder to teach them patience and hard work... Leaders become stagnant in their abilities after years of doing the same work over and over.... There are a lot of changes CPF has faced in his tenure and what may have worked 12 years ago may not work tommorrow for him...

Fulmer it appears still has a strong desire to succeed. He kept this team focused or it could have been an ugly season with maybe not even a bowl game. I am impressed with the young talent and hope the ones red shirted and new freshmen in the '08 class will propel us back to the front for a NC shot. The difficulty UT faces is the parity of the game with the limit on scholarships and to be perfectly honest not much D-1 talent in the state coming out of high school. He has recruited well since '05 and I think it will pay off.

I guess i will agree with the poster that said give him a chance to win a champ. sec or nc within 5 yrs. the talent is as good as ever. i will say this , we would be hardpressed to find another coach to stay for 15 to 20 years keeping it a stable winning program like fulmer has

I love FULMER. He is tennessee to me. I love that he wins most of the games we arent expected to win. i love his loyalty to THE BIG ORANGE. i love the fact that he does it the right way, and i love the tradition he has helped mold which still brings 100k plus on gamedays. it is so obvious to me... a true vol fan , that he has more than earned his own way out when HE decides to call it quits. Thats my take GO VOLS

Maryvillereb2007...I admire your loyalty to the man but please explain the sentence above...specifically what games are you refering to?

he is best in the underdog role is all i ment its amazing how i am being bashed for loving our HC hah

I don’t see how you can take “I admired your loyalty…” as bashing. But when you make a statement like that, you are going to be called on it every time.

I'm going out and buy SEC East champion T-shirts for Christmas for all my friends! Anyone know where I can buy these???
Personally, I like the "Blown out 3 times, but worked like heck to win the East" DVD's

hmm...where do i start? How about the more memorable first....I attended games in Tempe in '98, New Orleans in '85, Birmingham in '82 (after losing 11 in a row), been to the Orange, Cotton (2), Citrus, Sugar (2), Fiesta, Gator, Liberty, Peach (2),every SECCG the Vols played in, the Carrierdome, the Meadowlands, almost every away venue in the conference.... grew up in Knoxville and attended the University....you're exactly right, I am a true fan....I just aspire for greater achievement than being satisfied with mediocrity. And that is our current state of affairs

Yet you still cant grasp the fact that we won the SEC E.D. and survived the craziest year college football has ever seen
I was at the CG....you seem to be the one having grasping issues....I'm not an Arkansas fan satisfied with a Division title....Conference Championships every 5 years is what Mike Hamilton's stated goals for the program are....we're past that stage twice over now....are you having trouble grasping that?

Jake, you hit the nail on the head. I have resigned myself to the reality that Phil is on the Hill as long as he wants to be, or at least as long as Mike Hamilton's the AD. I cant even find the energy to get mad about anymore.

The dangerous thing is, this could lead to apathy.
