'16 NC QB Austin Kendall (former UT commit)

I saw it mentioned recently that Stoops has Kentucky ahead of Jones and Tennessee. Hard to argue that point today.

How so? UK went 2-10 vs. UT's 5-7 last year and UT had the much tougher schedule. UK has one marginally marquee win in Stoops' two years (South Carolina this year). Jones beat a better USCe team last season in his first year.

Compare the respective schedules so far this year. UT-Martin, Ohio, Vandy, Florida, USCe and LA-Monroe vs. Utah St., Arky St., Oklahoma, UGA, Florida, Chattanooga. Swap schedules and both teams have identical records IMO.

UK's offense is further advanced and more exciting, but that is about where their advantage stops, and their soft schedule has given the appearance that they are on the fast track, but I think they come crashing back to Earth over the second half of the season.

I'm pretty sure their OL are all upperclassmen. That would be why the offense is further along.

SR, JR, JR, SO, rFR I believe. So they have some experience. They have a QB who is a true threat to run too. Towles is similar to Worley in many ways, but is much more apt to run out of pressure, or hold on the option. Much more athletic too.

Towles has definitely had a good year. A more athletic Worley is probably a pretty good comparison. That and more experience on the OL and our offense would be rolling too.

Threw for 6 TD's tonight :)

Kendall had his best game of the year as he led Cutherbertson to a 42-38 win over previously undefeated Weddington. He hit 26 of 40 pass attempts for 447 yards, 4 TDs & 1 INT, and he also rushed for 63 yards & 2 TDs on 14 carries.

Even including a 109-yard effort in one game, Kendall's averaging 306 yards passing per game.

His game reminds me of Heath Shuler.

Wow! Exactly who this O needs at QB. Dormady and Jennings better be on their games when he arrives.

This kid's comments are too shaky for my tastes. We've got to start winning some big games and we can NOT lose to Kentucky this year. I hate to even say those words but that game is no longer a lock. I saw it mentioned recently that Stoops has Kentucky ahead of Jones and Tennessee. Hard to argue that point today. We need wins.

So, 41-3 to unranked LSU

better than

34-3 to #3 Ole Miss?

This.

Kentucky hasn't really played anyone of merit this year until LSU. They gave up 20+ points to Florida who very nearly got shutout at home to Mizzou. South Carolina just looks bad this year.

I'm not saying we don't have winnable games on our schedule. I'm just saying we have to find some offense or we'll miss those opportunities. Look at the Vandy game last year. Does the offense in that game remind you of our current offense? It does to me. And last year we pinned it on inferior talent and Dobbs's struggles. We have too many good, young playmakers to still be struggling so badly.

We still have a dearth of talent in some key positions --- and one may be offensive coordinator.

Exactly. Everyone is slobbering all over Kentucky's record, but keep forgetting to look and see who they actually have played. If Butch can keep the guys mentally prepared, every game after Bama is winnable.

Our defense will dominate KYs offense. That jojo wildcat garbage ain't going to work against a good defense.

Exactly. The Kentucky love/fear mongering has to stop. Their schedule is bottom heavy, and ours is top heavy.

They are hitting their great equalizer for the rest of the season, and we will start to win some games beginning next week.

On that note: I'd much rather have a bottom heavy than a top heavy schedule. Seems like our players (and fans) never get a chance to build some confidence. By the time we get to the easier part of schedule, everyone is so depressed because of the way the season has gone so far.

I agree. Plus our players are beat up and worn down from playing some of the best teams in the country before we get to the more winnable portion.

Made it into the new SI magazine. Faces in the Crowd.

Austin,a junior quarterback at Cuthbertson High, threw for 447 yards and four scores and rushed for 63 yards and two TDs, including the game-winner with 18 seconds left, in a 42-38 victory over previously unbeaten Weddington High. With no timeouts and 1:58 left, he led the decisive 80-yard drive. Austin has verbally committed to Tennessee.

This kid is a gamer, a baller, play maker shot caller. In case you didn't know, I got Kendall, he shattered the mold and all he does is win.
