Well since they will be Nike I would say there is going to be some differences, and if we can bring in another stellar recruiting group there will be alternate uniforms that will be announced mid year depending on the Win vs Lose record...

We start our contract with Nike next yr...i'd like to see something different myself. Nothing like a cool alternate uni to lure in some recruits and throw people off. Change isn't always bad.

I don't think Nike starts until next year. We are still Adidas this year. I don't think we'll have anything different.

Even if they don't change very much one thing that will be different is the font of the numbers.

Nike likes to give all of it's schools it's own number font. Georgia's is awful but Ole Miss's is excellent. It's hit or miss.

I don't think it will be too much different for a couple of reasons:

1.) Tennessee is a very "traditional" looking uniform. Similar to other teams in our conference like UGA and Bama, IN THAT, there isn't much you can do to the uni to make it look "cool" without destroying it. For example, look at what Nike did to UGA's unis back a few years ago when they played Boise State in the Dome:

They look like the freaking red power ranger. Bama is a good example, because being a Nike school, their unis haven't really undergone much change at ALL and still look like the "Bama" that we know (and hate).

2.) When Nike took over in the NFL, a lot of the changes made to the unis weren't that drastic, all things considered. Seattle and/or Jacksonville have probably undergone the biggest and most obvious change, IMO, and many other teams have altered fonts for names and numbers, made helmet logos bigger, etc., but that's about it that I've noticed.

I just don't think Nike will go all "Oregon-esque" on us like some are hoping (heaven help us if they do). I am however looking forward to the change and what it will bring.

I did not know that about the numbers Indy. I am fine with Nike, with alternate uniforms and alternate helmets as well. But I just want plain numbers, not some ugly font that some DA from Nike assigns us as the next " font style".

I don't think they care what any of us think or like. The uniforms are now a recruiting tool. It will be designed to appeal to a younger crowd.

I can't find the article. But reference to Nike going all Oregon on us. The article said they were hoping to make Tennessee the next Oregon. The article showed multiple uniforms configurations. But I agree. I hope they don't go way over the top. But like Butch said. They have the final say. And if he let's the players vote on what they like and would like to wear. We as fans may not like it. But regardless. They can come out dressed in Bama yuk. Or Kentucky puke. I don't give a rats behind. I will always be a diehard Tennessee fan.

I actually think overall they look pretty good. The black are ehh but the grey pants with the blue jerseys was nice.

They just released the team picture with the normal whites and they looked the same.

My guess is we see the same ones from last year. Not sure on the greys. If the football team wears them, the basketball team probably will.

I'm sure the gear will be the same in general, just with the Nike swoosh replacing the Addidas logo. Subtle changes could be expected but overall it should be the same, as it should be. Probably, or more than likely, an alternate or two will be thrown into the mix to be Ok'd or shot down by the decision makers in the UT AD. I liked the smokey grey unis but not into the black or chrome crap for a traditional program like UT, jmo.

It still amazes me that grown men get so worked up about uniforms. Unreal.

If by worked up, you mean throwing tantrums and acting like whiny 2-year olds at the suggestion of changes or ideas, I'd agree.

Having said that, I really like discussing uniform ideas, the idea of us using the uniforms as a recruiting tool, alternate uniforms, etc. I'm not hung up on the "traditional idea" of being only orange and white.
