I think there is some info out there about what i'm referring too, but out of respect for his family and the situation, i don't feel comfortable talking about it on a public forum. You may be able to find out what i'm talking about somewhere in this long thread, i think.

Is the situation you are referring to have anything to do with the Ole Miss families who live in Memphis, and were organizing get-togethers with the Richmond family to push him to Ole Miss? Please tell me that they aren't very influential people in Memphis, who are threatening to make the Richmond family's life very difficult if their son doesn't make the right choice to go to Ole Miss. If so, then that probably adds even more to the conception of how dirty Ole Miss is when it comes to recruiting Memphis. If this is true, then how sad to basically force an 18 year old kid to play for you.

That is really not the case at least not in that sense. The family has been influenced by some social pressure though. IDK that threatening would be the word I would use. Freeze is actually a good Christian guy and that is also factoring into the equation.

I think either situation is good for Drew but I think if it were just his decision he would end up at UT. That said he also likes Ole Miss and if he gets "pushed" there it's not that much of a push.

It comes down to NSD though IMO. I would get Allen or Sweet and hope we can still land Drew by NSD.

Love all the "insiders" who know there's stuff behind the scenes that we can't understand or they can't tell us...LOL

He said "I believe," as in, his opinion. But by all means continue to mock him for something he isn't trying to be

If Shy Tuttle was gushing about UNC the way Richmond is about Tenn his thread would be in meltdown mode...It is unusual to see a commitment so openly expressing how much he likes another school. I have to think he prefers Tennessee based on some of these comments.

Hey guys, I was at Wal Mart last night and saw Richmond. I followed him around for about 2 hours. Before the cops showed up, I caught him buying some orange soda.

Just thought I'd pass on this tidbit.

Awwww come on, admit it.. You're just mad because DR really likes UT and Ole Piss (your team) will have a fight on its hands till NSD....

So I made some toast this morning. To my surprise, the charring on one side of the bread looked JUST like Drew Richmond's face. I turned it over to butter it and- OH MY GOD- A POWER 'T'

All Vol.

I don't understand. Why did he even commit to ole piss if he loves UT'S coaches, players, and atmosphere so much?

Gotta be outside pressure. The only question is if he has the ability to resist the outside pressure and sign with UT in the end.

Guys, we are in the thick of it for Drew, we always have been. This one is going to be tough. Drew really clicks with a lot of the UT players and coaches. His dad really likes Butch. His GF attends UT. We have a lot of good things working for us. On the flip side. Ole Miss has some things that are going to be tough to overcome.

There are some family things that i'm not going to talk about on a public forum that make you understand why Ole Miss is an attractive option all things considering. Can't fault Drew for choosing Ole Miss based on his situation. He is a good kid.

What kind$ off thing$ are you referring to, kind $ir?

It's not just about his Mom. Also, if you were his mom, and you knew more about what I'm talking about, you would understand why his mom prefers Ole Miss as well. I don't believe Ole Miss is the best choice for Drew's Career, but he will end up a very good player at either school. I do believe Drew will be happier at UT with his friends and GF etc....but this situation isn't as cut and dry as that. Trust me, Drew and his family don't have an easy decision, and honestly i think either choice will work out for Drew.
try pig latin man, I won't tell anybody...scouts honor... :wink2:

Woke up this morning and there was a shadow on my wall in the shape of Smokey. I took it as a sign that Drew is a VFL.

(Who remembers the Arkansas recruit that had that excuse for picking them over UT?) Best reason ever.

I've wondered if this was the case for a while now. Pressure from someone at his school would be my first thought and from family friends would be next. It could be the old "tell them what they want to hear" trick, or my favorite which is to say "O.K." then do what you want to do. Plus it gives him the opportunity to live his life without listening to people at school or around him always in his ear about going to Ole Miss. Freedom.

my son plays football and if he is able to go through the recruiting process i will stay out of it and let him make his own choice.now if he asks me for some advice on what to do i will help him.but in the end he will make his own choice.and i think drew richmonds mother should do the same.and if he picks us great for him and UT.

Wouldn't doubt it. Or maybe told her that she would be out of a job, if her son did not come to Ole Miss?

I wouldn't go that far. I think she is just close to several Ole miss parents and sees it as easier drive or ride with some other parents like the Wunderlichs. Their son is former teammate and kicker at his HS now at Ole Miss. They got some $$$$$$.

She may not be pressuring him their it just could be that it is the current factor that puts them over the top.
