I'm getting really tired of watching Chism launch 3's. He needs to stop acting like a guard.

We can't continue letting teams get the best of us on the boards. When UTC outrebounds you 25-12 at the half, you have problems.

JuJuan Smith's shot selection is what is keeping us down a little bit. I said this before and people acted like I was a heretic, but I firmly believe he is keeping the offense down a little bit.

Anybody that watched the game tonight will at least have some kind of understanding about where i'm coming from. The guy can shoot, but that doesn't mean jack up every shot you can.

We get a great steal on defense, run down the court and someone passes to JuJuan for a fade-away 3 pointer BRICK from the corner. How many times does that happen every game?

Defensively JuJuan is great away from the ball, he's "good" on the ball. He's definitely better than Howell in both categories, but offensively I like having Howell on the floor because I feel like I can trust him to take good shots, and shoot a good %.

I think we have bigger issues that JuJuan taking too many shots. I'll agree that I could live without some of them but I'd much rather keep Chism from shooting 3's and let JuJuan fire away.

i don't mind anyone taking "good" shots. That was mainly my point. I have nothing against JuJuan taking open shots, but he forces so many that it runs us into the ground a bit on offense. I don't mind Childress or Chism taking good "open" shots either. Loften is really the only guy on the team I trust to take difficult 3 pointers.

I have just noticed this year that since we play so well on defense, why not try to capitalize on any kind of defensive stop we get. If we could score 2 points for every defensive turnover, in the long run that would FAR outweigh any kind of "spark" we might get by shooting a quick 3 at the other end.

We have some excellent guns from 3. With as many as we have, Pearl would do well to realize, sooner rather than later, that Chism needs to be rebounding while one of our other guns is shooting the 3.

With Lofton, J Smith, and Howell in the starting line-up, its a small team. The rebounding problem isn't a surprise.

I agree that JuJuan's shot selection is often suspect. He can get on fire and light it up, but he'll also take 3 or 4 quick 26-footers - not open shots but forced ones, with the shot clock in the 20s. Especially tonight within 2 mins he took 2 quick 3s that were entirely unnecessary and opened the door for UTC to make one final run.

The rebounding problem is simple. They're not in position to box out. It's as if they get caught just watching shots go up instead of getting a butt on someone and pushing them back. These are basic fundamentals.

I saw this team play intense D and make crisp passes on offense for stretches of 2-3 min. tonight. If they commit to play with that intensity for 20 min. stretches, they'll reach their potential.

I was disappointed in the performance tonight as many were. But then again - that was a nothing to gain game for us and everything to gain for them.

But I was even more disappointed that I live in the same town as some of the classless UTC fans. Specifically the students. I am embarrassed to say that I live in Chattanooga. We probably heard the "*%$# UT" chant 20 times tonight. Sometimes specific chanting at some older couple who had season tickets in the lower deck that wore their UT orange. Then I saw one guy walk down the stairs while getting pelted with everything from popcorn, to coke, to newspapers, and full bottles. Not to mention people pushing him and hitting him on the way down. I think this may have happened several times but not as severe as the one I saw where one guy followed him all the way down the bleachers hitting him on the back.... A few of the UTC student better be glad that a non-pansy UT fan wasn't in that guys place. The guy wasn't taunting them either was the sad part...

Oh - and did I mention I'm embarrassed by some of the moronic UTC fans that I have to live with?
