Thats right, thanks for correcting me.
Do you know if we're working on any JUCOs this year?
I agree with you assessment and would add that to truly reinstall a program of discipline takes more than one year. This team has improved in some areas but there is still quite a bit to be done. Hopefully this off season will be a good one.I think Gary is pointing out what a lot of the kids on here don't really understand. UT was a bellwether program during the 90's. When a team plays UT they bring their A-game. We are a "circle" game on everyone's schedule. When we became an undisciplined (line blocking, technique, stupid mistakes, etc.) team during the early part of this decade, we lost more games than we should have. The program took a pronounced step back, but you can still tell that we get everyone's best game (much like Nebraska, FSU, and Miami). Our reputation is still dominant.
The last two seasons have been a testament to the coaching staff returning the program to a disciplined team. I have very high expectations for next season with the way this team matured during the season. And next season will be a chance for UT to play the toughest schedule they've had in quite some time - so they better be ready.
go back and look at the 04 and 05 classes and compare them to who's even on the roster today.....i'd imagine you're going to find some 4 and 5 star guys that are now MIA, all for various reasons. so our overall talent level has maintained. add to that with those defections, we also got thinner, the "less talent" tag holds water.we have had top 3 classes from rivals in 02,05,07, we also are ranked 10th overall in classes from 01-Present,, are the coaches just not developing the talent or is the rating systems somewhat bogus?
I agree, but there was not a school in the country that didn't want Morley and Banks. Henderson was also a guy that could have pretty well gone anywhere.Tennessee has been signing some high risk players who have ended up being kicked off the team for discipline or academics.
Schools like Florida with lots of in state can go after players who they know do not have a history or academic or discipline problems where other schools like Tennessee who are recruiting out of state, have to take a chance on the risky talent.
If Florida has a top player in their backyard, who they really want, its hard for Tennessee to come in and sign them. But the riskier players, that they don't recruit as heavily, they have a shot with. My opinion.
