CBJ to Vol Fans

Sorry to be the devil's advocate guys but if Wylo said something that has been proven wrong please correct him. If nothing he said has been proven wrong, I have no reason to dispute him.

The burden is on Butch to prove he is a good coach at this point. No more talk. No more moral victories. Stop losing games you should win, and teach your football team how to avoid turning certain victory into defeat. Your offense sucks, do better.

This is a big boy job, and it takes a big boy coach to do it.

Spot on.

it seems people have forgotten how many true freshmen are playing this year,at the start of the season did you expect the Vols to win more than 5 maybe 6 games ? I didn't,so why all the misery on how the season is going ? I actually think they are playing a lot better than i expected overall

if young Mr Worley had an average offensive line, then i could understand all the complaining, for some reason they are playing like a bunch of freshmen, imagine that,it will get better in a couple of years, there is no fixing the lack of experience or the lack of quality depth, other than time

so relax

enjoy the games
expect the highs and lows of a young team growing
don't give up on this team
the Mighty Vols of Tennessee are on the road back

The slogan for 5 years and counting

What about last years line? Why couldnt he coach them up. All of them are on NFL rosters.Excuses,Excuses, Excuses by this coaching staff!

We had the best season running the ball in a decade with average RBs. The difference in Lane last year and Lane this year is really just sad. Last year he was patient and a hole eventually opened up, this year he waits for the hole and he just gets swallowed up. I would kill to see Hurd behind last years line.

Be patient. The longer you guys stay quiet, the more checks I can cash before everyone realizes I am not a good coach.

Hey check out my recruiting.

Nevermind Vanderbilt and Florida embarrassments, just get my offense properly described in the media.

Dooleys #1 fan. I would suggest you turn in your VFL fan card now. And by the way I would also suggest never post something as stupid as this post again. Troll

Go back and look at the Junior and Senior classes. How many are on the team? Look at the offers that they had...look at the OL recruits. These coaches are brining in a MAC team to play in the SEC every Saturday. We have talent that is young and inconsistent.

It is sad that a little success (UT State, Georgia) can cause us to lose our minds when the YOUNGEST team in football loses a close game.

The experts said 4-5 wins. We said "hopefully 6". We play above our heads against GA, and all of a sudden we are a 8 win team?

The slogan for 5 years and counting

no returning starters on either side of the ball for the trenches, add in some injuries for both and what do you have ? a bunch of young players trying to figure out the SEC

you know as well as I do,that true freshmen rarely do good in the SEC,usually when you see a good freshmen linemen,he has been red shirted his first year

and has strong Junior and Senior leadership, this is why Worley has been sacked so much and you see the big runs busted up the middle on the Defensive side

and you have to figure in the lack of quality depth behind them too ,so yes it is time for some Patience, these problems aren't a easy fix, they take time

I thought CBJ needed about 5 years to right the ship and see no reason to change my expectations when he took over the helm

Okay but how long did it take Johnny Majors to build up? And I bet the fans were alot more patient then we are. Rebuilding takes time and we need to give him time as fans. People seem to forget that he basically had nothing to work with when he got down here and us having to rebuild the program from scratch as Majors did.

You're the only embarrassment. You and the rest of the fans who don't know $#^! about coaching a collegiate football team, but are the first ones crying and whining and calling for coach's heads halfway into there 2nd year. Dumb

Most sane and knowledgeable football fans are patient concerning SEC or National titles, undefeated seasons or even 10-2 or 9-3 seasons, but have no patience for consistently losing winnable games. The last 2 losses to UF were simply embarrassing and totally avoidable.

No sane fan I know is jumping ship, but they are unhappy and concerned with losing games that should be won, plain and simple. They don't want to be told what's wrong anymore, just fix it.

If he couldn't coach them up, how are they all on NFL rosters? Your post makes no sense.

I think most level headed fans would agree that we were not going to be SEC champion contenders this year, but when the worst florida team in the last 30 years shows up in your stadium and all you can do is put up 9 points and lose. No one should be surprised by the disappointment of the fans and we have been patient for the last six and half years and we will continue to be because that's what this program needs right now. VFL!

He himself said this was a must win. We didn't win. I understand building a program takes time. Telling the fans to be patient is Dooley-Esk. He had better start winning or the great recruiting momentum he has built will take a hit.

The experts said 4-5 wins. We said "hopefully 6". We play above our heads against GA, and all of a sudden we are a 8 win team?

I keep seeing some version of this posted on every thread it seems. Just because ESPN predicted UT wins 4 or 5 games, doesn't mean that UT has to give games away to ensure they make that mark.

It doesn't make us fans crazy to want a team to win games that are GIVEN to them by their opponents. UGA and UF tried their hardest, and we refused it. Just like UGA, UF, and Vandy last year...This fanbase isn't asking to go beat OU and Bama.....they're asking for this team and coaching staff to win the games they should, not win how many ESPN said they should...

I think the worst part is the fact that if they had won the past couple of weeks, a small portion of this team would be put back on the map....Leading the (admittedly weak) SEC East after 6 weeks would have had the country buzzing about UT...These past two games could have done more for this team than I think a lot of people realize...and that's why the excuse of "Well ESPN said...." doesn't fly with a lot of us.

We have no reason to be optimistic. Time and time again we've bought into the hype, and tone and time again we've found ways to lose important games. At this point, why expect a win when our recent history suggests everything otherwise. It's easy to be patient when you're in the running for the east every year, but our season has been over by October pretty much since 2008, and we haven't been truly relevant since the early 00s. Why can't we be impatient? Why can't we expect the coach to win games that he should win? Negativity and realism are different things.

Edit: before I get jumped on, I love what butch jones is doing with our program, and I hope he stays here forever. But it doesn't matter who the coach is or how close the score is, a loss is a loss, and that's where we are as a program while pretty much every other team in the SEC has reached monumental succes (relative to their history) while we have perpetually lost close and or important games.

This. Butch is ducking and throwing slogans around trying to get away from the fact that he is horrible on game day so far.

You're obviously not happy, why not just leave?

If you're happy, then you should leave. That's the real problem. You and your band of all is well gang. Same people that were blind with love for Dooley.

Well we now know what you think of Jones and the recruits he’s bringing in.

It's exactly what I think of "coach" Butch Jones.

He's a recruiter. A very good recruiter. He's just very underwhelming as a coach.

I have facts and results on my side. You have rainbows and dreams.

But I'm the delusional one?
