I figured LSU would probably be in the title game when the BCS standings come out so where would that leave us uga and fla... i figured it would go like this

UGA - Sugar
UF - Orange
UT - Outback

im not sure how many teams can make it to the BCS from one conference.. anybody else have some different input?

Only 2 teams can go from the same conference.

First: Only two teams can go from the same conference
Second: Florida has 3 conference losses.

The first one is correct and relevant.

The second one is correct, but is irrelevant.

Florida will be the highest ranked BCS team not going to a BCS bowl and there will be teams ranked lower than Florida in the BCS who get the nod.

Its the way the system is set up.

since the capital one bowl is for the SEC #2 and we lost in the SECCG which makes us the SEC #2, where is the reason that Florida gets the Capital one bowl. I know that they killed us and they are obviously a better bowl choice than us...but we were the SEC #2.

2 teams from a conference for BCS is a very bad rule.. at one point there were 7 sec teams in the top 25.. thats almost 1/4th of the ranked teams...

It's not SEC #2 team...

It's the second SEC pick. Cap1 bowl can pick whatever team they want as long as they have a 7-5 record and are within one win of the conference loser (7-5 teams have to be picked before 6-6 teams)

i think they can pick the next team if its within one conference game... i think i read this in one of the threads...

well i figured that all this heisman talk about Tebow and appealing to the audience as an exciting game and all that the Orange Bowl would pick UF, sounds like a good idea to me but i guess it wouldnt be possible if only two teams can make it... so what would happen if we this scenario worked out..

1. UF beats UGA and Auburn
2. UT beats Cal and Alabama
3. LSU beats UK and Arkansas
4. UF beats LSU in the SECCG to give LSU their first loss

ok thanks for the clarification. I know they could pick whoever they want, but I thought they were advised to pick the #2 team.

I think that they can pick who they want. The only restriction that I know of was negotiated by the SEC between the Capital One, Outback, Cotton, (and one more, which am I forgetting?) that each must take the number 2 team once every 4 years...so once every 5 years the SEC #2 could fall lower.

The Chic-Fil-A, Outback, CapitalOne and Cotton have a contract with the SEC that they must take the SEC CG loser once every four years -- ensuring the SECCG loser gets a New Years Day bowl every year.

I wish they would change the language they use on those bowl projection sheets where they say "SEC #2." It doesn't mean the team that finished second, i.e. lost the CG. It doesn't even mean the team that finished second in the BCS rankings or the AP or the coaches.

It means the second "available" and even that's misleading since in this case neither UGA nor LSU is available to non-BCS bowls. What it basically really does mean is "first choice of the non-BCS qualifiers."

We are heading to the Outback Bowl from the way it sounds. UF was going to get Illinois in the Citrus until OSU moved into the title game, now the Illini appear to be headed to the Rose Bowl.

UF will most likely face Michigan. UF will roll UM, UM has a weak secondary and Tebow will go ballistic on the Wolverines.

UT should get the capital one bowl over UF---UT played for the championship, UF did not.
