'15 GA DE D'Andre Walker

Thankfully the DE's are interchangeable because I wouldn't put Vereen, Henderson or Lewis among the 4 most talented DE's on that list. Now they may play because of experience but I feel confident there are at least 4 guys listed there at DE that are more talented.

Hendrix is going to end up being really good sooner or later.

That's a great point. Barnett has played a lot of WDE this year. When you are as athletic as Barnett/Hendrix/Veeren are, then you don't have to worry as much about lining guys up based on the offense. I've been really happy with L. Lewis as well. He's been placed into games and really made some nice plays for us. I also wouldnt sleep on J. Miller getting into the rotation by years end. Right now, from what I've seen on the field, Barnett has locked down his spot for the next 2-3 years. He will play 80% of the snaps every game. I think Hendrix/Maggit/Veeren will get the majority of the snaps left either opposite of Barnett or replacing Barnett. With L. Lewis, Henderson, and Miller still left waiting to play, I just don't see a lot of freshman getting playing time. This is a great problem to have.

Also were really starting to see the ripple effect of kmac and tut on the dline. I knkw id love to play beside them. What i dont understand is why we dont have mlb beating down the door with aj leaving and those guys up front. Seems like one of the best situations in the nation.

Well Jerome baker is interested, and there's a big 4* LB from Louisiana that his name escapes me. Thats thinking of giving us an OV.

If we get this kid, we will without a doubt have the best DL haul in the country! I hope we get this kid another RB and a CB or two with 1-2 OT. Then with natural attrition lose about 4-6. And call it a wrap.

Dont forget about barnett/hendrix on the other side and jrm, cherry/bryant, bates standing behind them... our front 7 is filthy next year

My bad. It just seems like we have so many good players, I forget about some. Thanks for the correction :)

I wanna see a heavy package with kmac and tut in the middle and barnett and hendrix on the ends. Would be nasty

I assume Walker is a better pure rush end compared to taylor is more of just a freak athlete. Both would be huge pulls

Check this out!

Projected front 7 depth for 2015:

DE: Vereen, Lewis, Henderson, Taylor, Ford
DT: O'Brien, Tuttle, Mixon, Picou
DT: McKenzie, O. Williams, Saulsberry, Sawyers, Moseley(probably moves to OL)
DE: Barnett, Hendrix, Butcher, Vickers, Jackson(could also move to OL)

OLB/DE: Maggit, Weatherd, Walker(potential commit:))
MLB: Bryant, J. Johnson, Cherry, Jumper, Bynum, King
OLB: Reeves-Maybin, Bates, Berry, McDowell, Smith

Even with having to replace AJ, that has the potential to be a shut down D. Just looks like a nasty SEC front 7. The days of getting gashed in the running game are coming to an end. Plus, Maggit, Weatherd, Williams, and Saulsberry would be the only SRs out of all those guys, so we would still be fairly young with a lot of room to grow.

Now also realize that the only DB we lose next year who plays a bunch is Justin Coleman.

P.S. These aren't really my predictions for who will start, just an indication of the talent and depth being stockpiled on the hill!

This right here puts it all in perspective about how nasty this D will be. Good luck trying to block these guys. :aggressive:

If our 3rd and long lite speed rush package is called the "Smurf Package" what would this package be called ???

Since Maggitt is our biggest linebacker and I believe our unquestioned leader on Defense next year, why couldn't he slide inside to MLB, so Weathered and Reeves-Maybin would start at our other two linebacker positions?

Per Hubbs

Getting D'Andre Walker back on campus for the Vols is a big deal as the pass-rush specialist is basically down to Tennessee, Auburn and Georgia. Most believe he's Georgia's to beat but the Vols are going to have a say in things before it's all said and done and Walker isn't planning on doing anything soon. Look for him to also take officials to all three schools.
