Exactly correct. There should be plenty of parking at the Dunwoody station, as they have two large parking decks.

I've been to the Championship game before even when UT wasn't playing just to be there....it's a great atmosphere for a game. I could always get tickets on the street cheaper than face value. I'm sure this game will not be any different. The above post is correct....look on the streets around the CNN center.

Stay in midtown or buckhead---better deals, more things to do. Downtown atlanta is scary at night with a bunch of criminals / homeless, etc. everywhere.

In 2001, my friend and I went to Atlanta with no tickets. I remember there was a rule about not scalping within X feet/yards/whatever of the Georgia Dome (at the time, not sure now).

My friend and I got two tickets on the 50, behind the Bartholomew's, around 30 minutes before kickoff for $90 ... total.

I remember they were tougher to get in 97. Had a few friends who had to watch at Jock&Jills since they couldn't afford them.

OK Guys here is what I have so far does this seem right my motel is 1/2 mile from the Dunwoody Station N9 I go from there to Five Points then get on the W1 to the Dome.
Also, try to leave early. You can always hang out at the CNN Center and have a beer or two (e.g. 32 ouncers for $7 or less) in the food court before hand. The Dome is within walking distance of the CNN Center and vice versa.

There's no law against buying from a scalper, is there? Like...if the scalper isn't outside of 2,700 feet...that's their problem, correct?

O.C.G.A Sec. 43-4B-28 provides that a "ticket broker" shall be criminally prohibited from reselling tickets or offering tickets for resale within 2700 feet of the Georgia Dome (or any other venue seating more than 15000 people).

However, O.C.G.A. Sec. 43-4B-29 provides that folks who are reselling tickets purchased for personal use are exempted from the other requirements of ticket brokers under the preceding law, but must still obey the 2700 foot limit.

CNN Center food court is pretty much the area for resale, but you will probably find guys at the SEC fanfest at the Georgia World congress Center doing the same. Both are sufficiently far away from the Dome.

It doesn't look illegal, but that is no guarantee that someone won't get pinched for scalping there.

This post is for informational purposes only and is not the product of any atty-client relationship!

As was mentioned at the first of the thread, always use Trip Advisor to checkout hotels. Their reviews can save you some nightmare memories.

You can also book hotels there. Reading those reviews for that hotel-- PASS on by.

If I were attending the game, I would stay in BuckHead. I do not camp out or stay in cheap hotels.

I have been to the game every year we have went. 97 was by far the toughest ticket to get. 2001 was also tough, but I have never paid more than 80 bucks.

Scalping is illegal but just look around and see where the cops are. Make sure the area you buy is well-lit to check for fake tix. And make sure the area is crowded. Some scammers will prey on those just willing to buy right off the bat. Pretty much anywhere between the Dome and Phillips is a good place and the closer to game time the better. Don't buy them at SEC Fanfare or online unless you just see a deal no one can pass up.

My 5 year old has requested that for his Christmas present he wants to go to the Sec Championship game. (Yes I do have the best son in the world and yes I have raised him right and no I did not have anything to do with him wanting to go) :).

The tickets I have are in section 302 in the corner Row 2.
Do you guys think.....A. he will be able to see (I think so considering they are Row 2)

B. That the atmosphere would be appropriate?

Thanks guys and GOVOLS!!!

I would be very cautious in taking a 5 year old to downtown ATL for a championship game. I would be a nervous wreck the entire time. You'll have plenty of time to take him when he's older and you both can enjoy it more. Get a buddy to go and enjoy yourself this weekend.

My advice is from a dad with a 5 yo. If you can handle it, more power to you OrangeWilly. I just hope you're not sitting by me! :)

There are 6,000 things on a 5 year old's mind. I'd be proud he wants to go, but I wouldn't take my 10 year old to the SECCG.

Not only is downtown Atlanta dangerous after dark, LSU fans are notorious for throwing beer and other objects when they score. Personally, I think my son will be ready for a non-home game at about 14, at the earliest.

This is completely false. I live north of town and have taken my kids to several venues, including the dome, without ever having a problem.

Take your son and have a blast. I'll be there with my 6 and 12 year olds.
(just be prepared to spend a small fortune on eats and worthless trinkets!!)

If he asked and you have the tickets, take him. It would be the memory of a lifetime for him.

I'm sure people have been to Compton and never been shot, does that make it not dangerous?

No, just b/c it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean there is no potential. There are incredibly too many homeless people and thugs walking around in Atlanta to say it isn't dangerous to be walking around with children.
