I think we all got what he was saying, but it didn't make sense, hadn't seen it said by anyone that Skal was OVing to Tennessee for Florida weekend.

Yeah. I realized I misread ziti's post. I tried to edit it but you're too damn fast on the reply.

Still don't think Vols are a real player here, but curious to see if we start hearing any rumblings about his mentor and Tyndall. Supposedly the reason OM was in it was because they were gonna offer his mentor a job, but Skal ultimately decided he couldn't see himself in Oxford. If he is already considering Tennessee and they were to offer his mentor a job gotta that things could get interesting here.

Just a thought.

I was thinking that, too. Maybe Tyndall is playing the package angle, but is smart enough to keep it on the down low rather than openly advertising it like Andy Kennedy. He made the deal too obvious.

Not having any luck so far remembering where I read a few days ago that Skal would be making an official visit, but I remember how pleased I was that we might be landing some great in-state talent. I believe Donnie will go all out to get him. When I can remember the source, I'll post it.

This would be a big time get if we can land him. Maybe ole Donnie just has "it" when it comes to recruiting.

No, I don't think so but he'll still be a top 10 recruit even if he doesn't play a single game his senior year.

Yeah I see where your coming from but I also see where you can say he hasn't competed in one year how do you know he can perform in the sec or any conference I don't expect uk an people to back off but the smaller teams I could see

Skal may not be eligible bc it sounds like he may not have been anyways but most homeschooled kids can play for teams in their district.

Yeah, let us know.

Personally, I think you're confused. A few days ago, he announced his top 6 and we made it which was kind of a surprise because he's never even visited UT. Maybe that's what you're thinking about. The news about him scheduling a visit was broke yesterday by Rob Lewis. I can't imagine an in-state 2015 5* top 10 talent would announce he's visiting and it not ever get mentioned on this board.

Or you could be confused with the story about 5* Dwayne Bacon announcing that he would visit UT and Florida State which came out a week or so ago.

If he legit homeschooled there's no way to play his senior year correct?

There's a team in Memphis that home schooled kids play on iirc, they schedule teams from around the area and don't really have their own division.

Fwiw Jarnell Stokes hasn't played competitive basketball in over a year either, he proceeded to come to Tennessee and be one of the leagues better big men overnight.

Tim Tebow homeschooled, but played in HS. Homeschooling doesn't ban you from playing high school sports. You simply play for the school you are zoned for. Tebow was zoned for Nease HS in St. Augustine, FL, so that is where he played, despite not attending class there.

In Skal's case, if he homeschooled, he would play for whatever school he is zoned for. There is some TSSAA litigation that is currently blocking his transfer to Lausanne, so that could be an issue, but homeschooling doesn't preclude him from playing.

That doesn't make any sense? Why would a small school back off, and he's got a final 6 of: Memphis, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgetown, North Carolina and Baylor...not really any small schools left.

Wasn't really talking about skal just any player, and my reasoning behind a small school is if you don't think you have a shot in the first place but your trying this would be a way to cut ties just my opinion

Oh ok thanks for clearing that up. I forgot Tebow was homeschooled and still played highschool ball.

Not all states have the same homeschool laws.

Not all states have the same homeschool laws.

I thought the rule was the same in Tennessee. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Edit: TSSAA Bylaws, Article II, Section 25, Item B states that (paraphrasing)...

A student must be enrolled solely in a homeschool program, take a minimum of 5 academic subjects, and registered with Director of Schools.

Student must have a legal residence in the school district registered, or within 20 miles of intended private school.

Student is held to same academic eligibility standards as traditional students.
