Whatever happened to naming student section?

So in case you missed it, Coach Jones challenged the student body government to help get the student section named. They answered the challenge and accepted numerous nominations and narrowed it down to 5:

Rocky Top Rowdies
General's Quarters
Smokey's Howl
Vol Army
Big Orange Crew

I personally don't really like any of them that much but I voted for General's Quarters just to keep with the Neyland theme of the stadium. You have to be a student to vote and I'm not sure if you can vote more than once, but the winner will be announced at the USU game and the student section will forever be known as whatever wins the vote. I'm guessing it will be Rocky Top Rowdies, but I really hope I am wrong. It's just too cliche' for me.

God, is that really the best they could come up with?? Those are TERRIBLE!! Do they accept write-ins?

If a nickname is needed to fill the student section, so be it. Personally, as a student who stood in line outside the UC for tix, this seems lame. I know times are different and the students are charged for tix (BS!) but naming the student section and making t-shirts aren't going to change things.

There needs to be a box on the ballot you can check that says: "Abandon this ridiculous idea entirely before we embarrass ourselves any further."

Kinda like putting the cart before the horse here; we should & need the students to come and actually STAY at the games before we "find a nickname".
