Man down. Someone needs to step up. I am afraid Saulsberry might be done for the year from what they are saying. We really did not need this and one more injury at this position and I could see Jones putting out a campus wide call for DT walkons or something. Not to find a starter but to add some sort of depth if he got lucky.

I think a juco DT would be a better option. If we could get back on dj jones, then that would be ideal

I believe that ship has sailed. Just glad Jones went out of conference. Besides, I would rather get highly rated HS guys who don't have a history of grade issues as opposed to JUCO guys if we can help it.

This. Plus KM is about as college ready as any DT in the country, Juco or High School.

UNC has picked up their recruitment of Anthony Rush a top 25 NC 2015 recruit who is projected at DT next year. He's from Cary, NC and is 6'5, 300 lbs. This may be additional good news for us regarding Tuttle.

Our staff should keep an eye on Rush too. Not a lot of competition presently and his stock is growing, although UNC is definitely in the drivers seat.

Yeah next year's starters could be K-Mac and O'Brien with Tuttle, Williams, and Sawyers the first three rotation guys. We will be fine moving forward

As good as McKenzie is you still don't want to have to rely on a true freshman to come in and start ever.

By far this is usually right, however there are a few freshman that can do it, and would do it for any team. KH appears ready now and he really will a year from now. Like I said it is rare, but kids like Jernigan, Ramsey, Lawson, Bell all did it last year on teams that were already stacked. Not all started right away but KH has the best high school film, and looks more college ready than any recruit I've ever seen. I think he is one of those exceptions and would start day one for nearly anyone.

If we must take Tuttle or Settle?...I'll take Tuttle.

I think his point was that Tuttle is a must, but that if Settle has his grades in order that he us a must as well with our need for DT. A haul of McKenzie, Tuttle, Picou, & Settle would be amazing.

I posted this in the football talk thread but it may be more relevant here:

Interesting comments supposedly made by Doug Matthews this morning that I saw on the football forum.

"Our best unit and is championship calibre is the wr position. We all knew this. On the bright side, Hendrix and Barnett are better than advertised. The thinking was that they were brought in to grow into tackles and move inside. They are so athletic that they will remain as ends. This was super news. However, it changed our recruiting priorities.
Jakobson might be redshirted. I can see this personally as he is raw and not ready. Creamer might be redshirted. Need to find a position for him.
Now, the concern is that he is not very optimistic about the cornerback position and alluded to the fact that it and qb was the two most important position this recruiting cycle."

My additional thoughts:
Assuming this is accurate it seems to solidify that the staff will push hard for Settle as well and try to have a DT haul of KM, Tuttle, Settle and Picou (sorry if I misspelled any of those) - especially interesting that Hendrix and Barnett being athletic enough for DE caused the coaches to have to adjust their recruiting needs.

This. KMac will be more ready than most college seniors.
