Ukraine Protests

I like the one older lady who tells the interviewer to "think for yourself!"

That's what they call irony.

Honestly, we do this a lot with Americans (not necessarily about this issue), and they're absolute imbeciles. Kimmel has made a show out of this, hasn't he?

What would startle me the most is to watch a clip wherein every man or woman on the street seems well-informed. That would be truly upsetting.

It's hard to overcome years of incessant propaganda.

That third woman was on uppers or is an auctioneer by training.

Who? The brunette with the purply colored, striped shirt, who looks like Darlene from "Roseanne"? Yeah, she seemed a bit rambling. But I would probably be the same as well in an interview. Which is why I would never interview. I've actually been asked a couple times in Knoxville to do "man in the street" interviews about random crap for local news stations, but I've always refused them.

Some have been debating whether or not this is a new Cold War between the US and Russia. Tensions are very bad; even perhaps as bad as they were back in those days. But don't you have to have some competing going on to have a new Cold War? Like a Space Race, or an Arms Race, or a race to see who can make the highest-quality refrigerator, which, I might add, we won convincingly. Perhaps the opposing monetary funds are a new version of that now? It's an interesting question.

No, they're not.

The fundamental conflict was ideology: communism versus capitalism. Everything else--the competition--was a symptom of that: whose system worked better? For example,

Yeah, I read about the Kitchen Debate in the book I'm currently reading.

I hadn't thought about the ideology component as well. That's also interesting to think about. It's not nearly as neatly constructed as communism v. capitalism, but you could make the argument that ideology is still fueling the debate. On the one side, you have the forces of globalization (US); on the other, the forces of national self-determination (Russia), even though it's just mere rhetoric. Russians would love to run the show; just aren't powerful enough, at least at the moment.

Ha ha. Strelkov

Rough translation.

The gist is that they spotted 20 tanks with US or NATO flags.

Assisting in the organ harvesting, one can assume.

I didn't know that NATO troops went around with NATO flags on their vehicles. I always just stupidly assumed they all had their own national flags on them. Good to know. I'll be on the lookout.

It kind of looks like this:

But in the tank version.

The guy who owns that nice looking bike should be constantly looking over his shoulder for AG Eric Holder. Holder will probably want to investigate whether the rider is an American Patriot or a member of the Tea Party for flying our flag's colors.

Getting back to topic....We're fighting two forms of evil. Barry on the home front & Vlad the Impaler on the Ukraine front. Wonder who breaks first?

The race is against resources and time left on the clock for the USD.

The ideological battle is between Keynesianism vs the BRICs nations. It's East vs West. It's paper assets vs real assets.

What makes assets in India any more "real" than those in Germany?

The currency in Germany is the Euro, much like the dollar it can be printed at will by the central banks. As a result, the currencies are constantly being devalued through inflation. The BRICs nations seem to have a different mindset. If they can get their currencies to be backed by a commodity, it will retain its value over time (which is great for everyone except the banking class). That could be one reason all the eastern countries are buying so much physical gold, so they can return to a gold standard.

Interestingly you chose Germany as one of the countries. I'd bet, based on their fiscal policy, they would be inclined to go to with the asset backed currency. The rest of Europe, like the US, cannot pay their bills without borrowing/printing more money.
