Yes, Reagan and Bush were Republicans... we've established all this already. But I suppose it bears repeating. Thanks for putting it in big bold print!

Two days ago in Memphis, it never got above 70 degrees. That has never been seen before for the month of July with records dating back to 1875

The high temperature in Memphis yesterday was 69 degrees. Anyone who lives in Memphis can tell you that it is almost always Blazing Hot with extremely high humidity. I do believe in climate change, but not necessarily global warming.

I read a book: A WORLD LIT ONLY BY FIRE, by William Manchester a few years ago. The book was mostly about the Middle Ages and the decadent catholic popes, but Manchester mentioned the climate change that was taking place in Europe at that time. Several hundreds of years ago.

Isn't there a local weather thread in the pub for this sort of small talk? The world is bigger than Tennessee...

Four-Star Warning: Generals Dub Climate Change a Security Risk

A new report from a panel of former Pentagon leaders calls climate change a direct threat to national security and the U.S. economy, as extreme weather stands to stretch troops thin, spark unrest in unstable regions, and unravel global networks of trade and resources.

The authors –- 16 retired three- and four-star generals and admirals who compose the CNA Corporation’s Military Advisory Board (MAB) -- blame a warming planet for, in part, aggravating tensions among some nations.

Their study, released Tuesday night, dubs climate change “a catalyst for conflict” against a backdrop of increasingly decentralized power structures around the world.

“Political posturing and budgetary woes cannot be allowed to inhibit discussion and debate over what so many believe to be a salient national security concern for our nation,” the generals and admirals wrote. “… Time and tide wait for no one.”

I've got my money on Arizona in an armed conflict. Whattaya think?

Haha, I'm inclined to agree. It'll be interesting to see how that plays out. Water rights to the Colorado River has always been a hotly contested issue.

Yes Cousin Eddie, 100%. Drought and famine lead to conflict. It doesn't take a team of 4 star generals to figure that out.

The Arab Spring and Climate Change

And closer to home,

Water war bubbling up between California and Arizona

Lake Mead, the next Aral "Sea"?

California wouldn't have a problem if their water infrastructure weren't so out of date. It hasn't been updated since the 1970's when it's population was around 20 million, 40 years later, the population is nearing 40 million.

And don't spew this crap about lack of water, there's an ocean just to the left.
