Just looking at the schedule, I break it down into four categories:

Wins: Utah State, Arky State, Vandy, Kentucky, UTC

I don't buy into the whole "OMG! OMG! Utah State is going to rip us apart!" nonsense. Any OOC team that comes from a lower conference into Neyland on the season opener is going to have issues. They don't need to look past them, but I don't think it's going to be as huge a deal as people are making.

Entirely winnable: Florida, Mizzou, Ole Miss

Florida and Mizzou at home presents two games that are completely within the realm of possibility of a W. Depends on Florida's new offense, but I'm hoping Muschamp will Muschamp.

Ole Miss is a wild card, but I wouldn't put money on the game.

Probably not, but you never know: South Carolina, Georgia

We always play UGA tough

Not going to happen: Oklahoma, Alabama

One can hope and dream that Kiffin does something stupid and we win. How epic that would be.

So 6-6, 7-5 is entirely doable this year.

McDad is delusional.

They have a pretty good squad they are bringing back. And I would think they are in pretty good standing for the Big 12 Championship myself.

Just not our year to go on the road and compete with teams like they are.

Here is where I differ with you. Left or right on social issues, it's still about control.

Far right social:
wants to control who you can marry
end abortion
no choice on drugs
ext ext

Far Left social:
wants to limit the size of your soda
wants to limit free speech if it offends
wants to force you to associate with who you do not want to
use taxes to enforce their societal goals

In short they are all the same, they want control over you and want you to abide by their idea of social norms. The biggest difference is the left is far more dangerous to freedom.

I consider myself to lean left on social issues and I literally am against each of those things you listed above as leftist. I also see where one could argue that freedom is at the heart of each of the things you listed as right.

Both want to restrict your freedom based on their social views, they know what's best for you. The left just wants to take your money to enforce their views.

I don't disagree that it's all about the power.

I just think it's crazy that the right has up and decided that they own fiscal responsibility. I think they've told themselves they are the best stewards of money so many times, they now believe it.

Truth is both parties suck at fiscal responsibility and use different wedge issues to allocate the money that's been taxed.

I wouldn't say "the right" I would say the republicans. Conservatives are better stewards of public money than liberals, being a republican dosn't automaticly equate to being fiscally conservative.
