Seriously? It's the 4th of July. I'm sorry if tiny little pieces are falling on your house. It's falling on everyone's house.

It never fails every year just about someone has some problem. "My kids are trying to sleep", "You're getting crap in my yard and on my house", "OH MY GOD MY CAR"!

I honestly meant to put this in the pub but oh well.

I was afraid one of my neighbors was going to be coming out or calling the cops earlier tonight when the people on the other side of him were shooting off fireworks. Just so happened that his bedroom is on the same side of the house that his neighbors were shooting off firecrackers.

I had a neighbor break my tailight with a firework two years ago. He was a jerk about paying for it, too.

I'm don't really care, as it's one day a year. But if you light them, you're responsible for them.

Out of all the years we've shot off fireworks we've managed to not damage any cars including our own. They're typically more resilient to small things like firework debris falling on them, etc. The only mishap we ever had was setting a neighbors bush on fire down the street from where we were shooting. I told her if it ended up dying we'd buy her a new one or even dig one up out of our front yard and give that to her. It was just a Nandina and we also had a few in our front yard.

We now keep not only a hose hooked up but a bucket of water to carry somewhere just in case. We also make a point to sweep the road when we're done.

We always shoot fireworks on Christmas Eve in my family. Old house with no others around but seems like someone from the subdivision down the road always calls the cops to complain.

Now that is the way to do it. Responsible, prepared, cautious and courteous. You're setting a great example for others by taking this approach. Re the complainers: there is always at least one and they have good reason (in their mind)

Be grateful for the fun and that no one was injured.

If your neighbors get that upset on the 4th, they wouldn't make it around where I live for New Years. Shot guns galore. Every one around here ( not me) rattles off a couple rounds. But I live out in the country so....

I was sitting on the front porch around 10pm & you would have thought WWIII had started w/all the fireworks going off. I heard some good loud booms from far away from where I am. I enjoyed listening to the fireworks but I heard not a peep of fireworks all during the day when I was in my yard working. It's like people around here start at 10pm & go till about 10:45pm. Nobody complained around my neighborhood that I know of. EDIT: The time on this post is wrong....it's 7:46am.

It's a country thing. Regardless who is sitting in the White House, folks around here are proud to be here. I sit out and watch the show.

Mine don't like it either, I bring them in the house. They are content there. But I've got 4 horses in the pasture and they don't care for it either, I guess I just deal with it.

I'm coming off 3 hours of sleep because my 16 month old daughter was scared ****less of all the fireworks going off last night. I don't really care if people shoot then off from like 9-10 or 10:30. It's when people make it a 5 hour affair is when I get pissed off.
