you would have to give coaches 5 yrs minimum to turn over a roster full of
bad players...or they would hardly sign anyone the 1st year to sign a huge class...
I don't think your example happens very often except when coaching changes occur...

anyway,that DJ Jones,when is he planning on coming back to Knoxville,on his OV?

It sounds like a personal issue to you in light of your perception of the Dews recruitment and possibly others. Not my intent. My intent in general is that not all that glitters is gold with Saban and whoever else may chase him. UT and Butch have wanted him for a couple of years now and still want him. UT was attractive to DJ a couple of years ago and it should still be attractive to him today, especially with the depth chart being what it is. That's all.

Absolutely no intensity or personal issue towards you or the topic in general. I apologize if my post came across that way. Wasn't my intent.

I suppose I had those thoughts & opinions on my mind for a while, and the fact your post merely mentioned DJ Jones and the loyalty angle presented me a platform to communicate my thoughts on the matter. All Good.

Also, usually there is a clause for conduct unbecoming of a student with a scholarship privilege. If they are dealing drugs, robbing people, etc., they would most likely lose their scholarship.

I would like to see 4 year guaranteed scholarships with a clause for injured players. Although Saban would find a way to take advantage of it.

Academic scholarships are usually one year scholarships that are renewable up to 4 years if you meet certain criteria, just like scholarships awarded for sports.

They will yank an academic scholarship for bad grades just like coaches will yank one for poor performance.

It much like job, do what is asked of you and you get to keep your job. If you do not do the work, you probably will not have the job very long.

I don't think he plans to be back till Dec.

Do you really think there would be many cases where a kid would just "not work hard" as a football player if he knew it could lead to him not getting to suit up? Right now if they don't perform they just get to transfer elsewhere to play ball. Under the 4 year deal I mentioned, the kid could not just go elsewhere. If he does not choose to put in the work, he would just not be dressed and on the field. He's still a student and on scholarship, but he's not playing. As I said, I think it would level the playing field and have both coaches and recruits much more careful about where/who they sign.

I do think that injury waivers should be awarded for kids hurt playing sports. They should be a full ride scholarship until they graduate without it counting against the 85.

Sounds like a Dec 13 decision date for Jones, from his twitter as reported by 247.

Tennessee remains his named leader , followed by Bama, Clemson, & USCe among others .

D.J. Jones DT, 6-2/310, Scooba, Miss.

Tennessee first came on the scene for Jones when he was a senior at Wren High School in Piedmont, S.C., as Jones was trying to qualify but wasn't able to and the Vols helped him land at East Mississippi Community College where he has blown up and is now one of the most highly recruited junior college players in the country.

Jones has Tennessee as his leader right now but there's no shortage of competition as Alabama is right behind Tennessee and is home to two of his former teammates from EMCC. South Carolina and Clemson as still very much in the race as well, but Tennessee has positioned itself nicely to this point. But, Jones plans on taking all five official visits and said he knows Tennessee will be one of them. This one likely won't be finished until December.
