It's like the idealistic vision of the Olympics as a venue for true amateur athletes (read white gentlemen of independent means) who play for the love of the sport. Cue the Chariots of Fire theme.

The reality is that even in NCAA D3, the coach is trying to keep his/her job, so wins and losses definitely have some weight. I suppose it's like anything --you see the reality underneath the show and decide if you want to stay around anyway.

if u r dumb enough to believe its not about wins and losses then u r dumb enough to use wikipedia to back up your point. lol From park and rec to school teams to college.....wins and losses is the most important thing.

Just saying I was apart of a team that we won but the main star was a druggie the whole team smoked pot so I left the team and went to a new team and we beat that team for the district title next year

did the kentucky players do any of that.......taking his education seriously is up to the individual....do u care that much about the other 25,000 students at UT.....why so concerned about the personal lives of the athletes?

No I'm concerned for all students because I'm not a fan of the Tennessee team as much as I am the university of Tennessee

well keep fighting the good fight Mother Teresa....i watch and cheer for sports for strictly sports related reasons which the biggest part is wins and losses.

I would rather have a team of champions in life. (Who also win games. :))

Tilting toward dallasbowlin on this one. I'm tired of people who grind others under their wheels while pursuing what they consider to be victory. Makes for a sucky world to live in.
