You must have never been to Ridgewood BBQ in Tri Cities?

In fact, come here and go to Pardners in Piney Flats, then Creekers in Elizabethton, then World famous Ridgewood in Bluff City. Then explain how Memphis has better BBQ. If TG likes BBQ he better stay away or he will be playing for ETSU instead of UT or the barn.

Once I took a business partner from Memphis to Ridgewood. Before going he swore it couldn't compare to "real Memphis BBQ". After Ridgewood, he went back home and slapped his mamma for lying to him all these years.

Ridgewood has fantastic BBQ. Memphis is still the best. Natural Born Grillers, Rondevous (sp?), corky's, tops, interstate BBQ, the list goes on and on. Memphis is the Capitol of BBQ for a reason. I don't proclaim that we have a monopoly on amazing BBQ, just that overall, we have the best. I do really like the Kansas City and East TN brands of BBQ, but Memphis will always be King.

Your from Memphis so I understand you are defending your turf just as Tri-cities will. All I know is that I have taken many people here on business to Ridgewood and many of them have had Memphis BBQ and said Ridgewood was better. Some did not even think it was close. Have I tried every place in Memphis ? No. There is no doubt that Memphis has many more BBQ places and they are all good for the most part. I seriously doubt you have tried Creekers but it gives Ridgewood a run for it's money. Of course some of it is personal preference too. Tell me the best place in Memphis and their address. I'm willing to try it when I am over there and if it is better than Ridgewood I will heartily admit it.

Pardners is not that good at all (very average), but I do love Ridgewood. Creekers is that new? I spent tons of time in Elizabethton (I hate that town), but I never heard of it. I moved to Knoxville back in 2004 so I would guess I either missed it or it came after 2004.

I think Carolina BBQ is superior to Memphis BBQ. So take that.

I start the post with I have no idea what will happen with TG. Would love to have him compete for the QB job - really special player. Don't know about his academics as Ainge talks about. It will all work as it is supposed to.

The real subject is BBQ. To this I whole heartedly agree with your post. Having lived in the Delta for a dozen years along with many other places around the country; and having at least visited most of the states and some other countries while dining on their versions; and being a smoker of many meats through the years - the Memphis/delta area is king of BBQ from my perspective. There is no better event than Memphis in May when in comes to BBQ. The teams that compete are from everywhere, but the local BBQ and diversity of types cannot be beat. FWIWJMO.

There is that nasty personal preference thing again. To each their own I guess. I agree that Ridgewood is much better than Pardners. Creekers is new and very good. In the Hunter area as you head towards Stoney Creek on 91. It is fine with me if you like Carolina style better. I definitely do not. We should get together when Oklahoma comes here and get a bunch of their fans to taste Memphis style, East TN, and Carolina and let them decide.

I have tried most of the BBQ joints in Memphis very good, most of it. But the Ridgewood BBQ is just better, some of it has to do with their sauce and they slice their beef and pork which I prefer. I find people tend to like what they grew up with though.

Yes, indeed, although I would also add The Cozy Corner on N. Parkway and The Commissary in Germantown. All 3 are outstanding. The best place in to go in Memphis also depends on if you are going for pulled pork or for ribs. Hard to beat The Rendezvous' dry rub ribs.

I've lived in Nashville the last 4 years. Best one here is Heavenly Hog over by Centennial Park. The kind of BBQ shack I grew up earing at as a kid in West TN. Cinder block shack with a screened front porch. Excellent BBQ.

I agree. Many have tried to copy their sauce. I know some have tried to have it analyzed by a lab. But where you grew up has to have an effect on what you like. I grew up in Knoxville, not Tri-Cities, and have eaten BBQ many places. When I ate at Ridgewood the first time I was a doubter of the highest sort. That first sandwich was like a slice of heaven.
