Not sure what to say other than that's unfortunate, for a multitude of reasons, but I can't imagine myself seeing any such thing. This theoretical kid of mine is 17. He's on the precipice of being a grown man. Time to sack up. I would almost certainly be accompanying him on any such trip out of fatherly interest in his future, but any 17 year old not mature enough to handle a simple roadtrip with a friend, teammate, or by himself isn't the kind that needs to be going away to college in the first place.

And for the record, this "couldn't find a ride" business is still ridiculous. If you want something done, do it yourself. If you want to go somewhere, pack a bag, get in the damn car, and drive there.

It's really not that complicated.

Don't know if you heard, but he's in Knoxville.

I honestly think Gibson wants to be an Vol more than a Tiger. The issue that is holding him back is the question if Tennessee will be truly back under Jones. If we make it to a bowl game I think Gibson will see his future is at Tennessee. Plus every game that Auburn loses this season will help push him to the Vols.

After he see's his future weapons in action then he will know UT is the only place he should be...My god I would be insane with happiness to see the WR corp and RB corp we are getting now...Plus the bigtime recruits we are fixing to land will really add into his decision.

Think back about life between your junior and senior years in high school. Did you call the shots at your house? I didn't and my kids didn't. Did you decide on your own that you were by God going on a 1500 mile trip and just leave a note for mom and dad and hit the road? I didn't, and my kids didn't. Did you have a reliable car at that age that you could count on for a trip like that? I didn't and my kids didn't. Did you always have a couple of hundred bucks to drop on gas and burgers for a trip like this? I didn't and my kids didn't. Lots of people saying lots of things about what this kid should and shouldn't do and they don't even know him. Despite his talent, he is a kid. Hang with some 17 year old's sometime and find out how mature they are.

You see, at 17... if really IS that complicated.

By then too late ...better decide if we suck or not before October...and even then, his spot may be gone. :wavey:

You're 21 years old, so I think it's a little arrogant of you to project how you think you'll feel with any degree of certainty, at a minimum, 17 years from now. You can take or leave that bit of advice from a father of 3.

In a vacuum, your opinion carries a little weight, but believe me when I say you'll feel quite different when it's your son, and not a hypothetical one whom you obviously view with zero emotion.

Lastly, a 15-hour drive isn't a "simple road trip" for a 17-year old kid by himself, regardless of your attempts to minimize it as a simple trip down the road.

Its not like he is running away from home, I am sure his parents are well aware of where he would be (IS) going. And I am hoping they want their son to make the best possible decision he can (and become a Vol) so they are probably fine with him going to a camp hosted by one of the schools that leads for him. Also see Jakob Johnson from last year, in particular him flying to knoxville them losing his luggage and him not freaking out (what I would have done). Not saying TG is as level headed as JJ, but come on. while not that far my parents let me drive at that age up from Chattanooga to Richmond, VA to hang out with some friends. Not all parents/kids/situations are created equally. So until there is a reason to freak, don't.

The last couple of pages(which is as far as I cared to peruse) seem to present a mixed bag regarding his whereabouts. Did he make it in tonight? Is he expected tomorrow? What time does the camp begin?

I don't think he is there yet. As I said, the kid he is supposed to be traveling with just recently tweeted they would be there tomorrow.

If that is the case, why claim that AU now has a "lead" over Tennessee?

Because they played for a BCSNC last year while we didn't even make it to a bowl game. The kid wants to play for a winner, and he needs to see that Tennessee is headed in the right direction in my point. The fact he is by all accounts going back and forth between us and Auburn despite our record and his desire to play for a winner tells me a lot.

I guess my point is IF your correct and he actually favors Tennessee, why not leave them at #1 until he see's they can't get it done this year on the field? The fact he moved AU to #1 kind of points to him not favoring Tennessee. JMO

Damn it I was really hoping for some sort of news about TG arriving in k town and there is only garbage in here. And I read it all. Wtf?
