there has never been any doubt who was going to be the starter. that is why Riley is hitting the road.

People put too much stock into coach speak to the media..

Well, another VFL gone before he played a snap!

And so may think this latest recruited class will net so many staters. More likely this is what will happen more frequently around here as we get better and better talent on board.

Everyone else can act like they saw this coming. I will admit, I am shocked by this. That is, if indeed, he is leaving because of the depth chart.

We'll this sucks. It's clear from VQ that this was not desired by CBJ or in any way expected. Riley had the most raw talent/ potential of any QB on our roster. You all know how hopeful /wishful I was that he would put that talent to use and win the job this off season. I hoped and thought it would happen. I was wrong. If the rumors that he was upset with being number 2 next season and wanted to start now without earning it are true then he needs to leave. He had to earn it and didn't. Period.

LWS, I asked you last year what your prediction for the upcoming season was and I believe you nailed it. What's your prediction for this one? 5 and 7 again?

I am disappoint. Not because I was arguing that he should be "the guy," but that he was one of the valuable ones and we'll need more than one. I wish the young man well.

From all accounts, RF is extremely talented but immature so his development was delayed, much like Tyler Bray. I wish he could have reached his full potential at UT and hope he doesn't play against us in a few years. He will be a special player if he becomes a student of the game and learns to read defenses. Best of luck to him in his future playing career outside if the SEC.

Gotta get to a bowl game this year. If we don't, the pressure is on Jones to hit the 8 win mark in 2015. Anything less than 7 wins could be hard for Vol fans to swallow.

As far as I know nobody who watches practice has walked out of there thinking that Dobbs was even ahead, much less that the competition between them is already over. The fact that all the writers who cover the team are apparently shocked that Ferguson is walking away seems pretty telling.

Right, which makes this even more puzzling. More info will come out about why he is leaving in that case.

He left because Will Bradshaw is coming in as a Preferred Walk-on this summer and he is scaring off the competition!!!!

I think there are multiple things at play here.

1. he doesn't work as hard as the other QBs. Just doesn't put in the time that the others do on their own. So he has that against him. JMO

2. IMO, he was looking at being third string in the fall and sitting on the bench. He doesn't want to sit the bench behind 2 other QBs (he could be behind Peterman as well just due to work ethic).

I think that is what drove his decision. Nothing about next year.

Nothing worse than a person who believes they are owed something without having to work and earn it

Not sold on tg passing. The kid was nominated for an Effin sport science espy cuz of his arm he us a freak to say the least and if we r lucky enough to land him, he will be a program changer like Hurd, Malone, bates. Except he touched the ball every offensive snap
