Riley Ferguson appears to be gone

Probably not.....he just does not have their level of commitment. This is division 1 football! Go play intramurials!!

Soooo... You are privy to his level of commitment??? How so? You are familiar with the rigors of actually being a D1 football player? I would be curious to know your actual experience with this as well. I'm not a Riley homer and actually prefer what Dobbs could bring to the table, but I would never disparage a kid that's trying to make his way in the game.

Edit: and before you ask, I did play D1 football and it is why I am somewhat sympathetic to the players. It's a tremendous commitment.

Well certainly not in a game but he did dominate Spring Training until the last week.

I have not seen one tweet, article, or interview ever describe RF's play as dominating. If he was a dominating qb, he would not be transferring to " a lower division school".

Lay off the kid. If he wants to be closer to home and closer to his family you can't fault him for that. His actual family comes before a football family. I wish him the best of luck and I appreciate him even giving CBJ a chance when Dooley was fired.

No. It has to do with the fact he knew he was going into fall camp as 3rd string.

Worley and Dobbs just got back from training with Whitfield, both are bigger, and Dobbs is a freaking rocket scientist. He wasn't ever going to play regardless of what people on this sight thought... We were wrong.

I can't believe how much more chiseled and cut Dobbs is from last year when he was so scrawny you couldn't see him if was turned sideways.

Maybe the "guru" is really helping Dobbs and Worley separate from the rest. If Riley is not cutting it maybe a fresh start will do him right. Good luck kid and Go Vols!

I agree, never saw anyone saying he was dominating. I do see Dobbs putting in the work, which is good.

I am sure this has been said, but I feel like we have a huge "silver lining" here:

-Thins the depth chart = more attractive to QB prospects.

-Opens another scholarship = makes our 2015 class larger and could help us sign another QB in this class behind whoever the elite guy is that we get (I hope it is Gibson and Francois to add to Jennings).

-Signing these guys will only raise the talent level at the University of Tennessee. I respect Justin Worley for his hard work and effort. I find him to be serviceable. Joshua Dobbs did good work in the playing time he had this season, but was obviously raw. Nathan Peterman deserves a clean slate in my opinion. He had bad nerves which is understandable and then got hurt. I will not speculate on Riley Ferguson's talent level because the fact is, we never saw the boy play.

All things considered, any QB they bring in this class will be an upgrade to our current stable. I don't need to see huge yardage gains after first contact, big designed run plays that break off big yardage, or a lot of deep ball passes that make our QBs looking flashy. I just want efficiency: No turnovers, no wasted opportunities, good completion percentage. This is possibly the best thing that could have happened, IMO.

I don't have to "know someone personally" to evaluate their football talent and KNOW I could beat them out.

Your statement is ridiculous. I can sit here and know both sides of the equation; I know how I throw, and I know how they throw. Then, I can make a qualitative decision.

On the other hand, you only know half of what I do. You know how our QBs throw. You don't know how I throw. So, I ask you: whose statement is ridiculous now?

Must have missed you playing on the field at some point in the recent past for UT, to "KNOW" you could beat our guys out. Unless that has happened and you are somebody that actually played at this level you don't "KNOW" anything. I have no doubt that you have the ability to throw a better ball than a lot of what we saw last year, hell I can too, but unless you were in that situation its a little presumptuous to say you could start for our Vols. And throwing isn't all of it either, otherwise Bray would have been one of the best things to grace the field. But I don't know you maybe you could, can't wait to see you dress out and issue one of the biggest "I told you so's" on the internet ever. I will eat plenty of crow. :twocents:

Given the situation, I completely agree. We are talking about a 3rd or 4th string qb. It happens all of the time and should actually helps us land a more talented prospect.

This surprised me. I know most have written him off, but this could eventually provide Peterman with another chance. I hope he can make the most of it this time.
