From the academic support standpoint, this makes no sense. Worst case scenario would be that he didn't pass 18-hours between Fall & Spring, and even then that would make him ineligible only for the Fall at this point. Otherwise, he can overcome a GPA deficiency or 24-hour rule deficiency during summer school if either of those were an issue. Even the nine-hour rule from the fall could be overcome by him passing 27 hours by the end of summer, and that would have only cost him four games.

In other words guys, take this rumor with a grain of salt.

Hope this is only a bad rumor. If not and it's true congratulations to about 2/3 of the posters on VN who seem to genuinely despise the kid....Christmas came early for you guys.

That's not all. Many started hating the kid when guys like me cut and pasted (sp?) quotes from Butch, VQ and others that Riley was splitting Team 1 reps with Worley the last week of Spring practice and that he has the strongest arm of the 4 QBs... that's all it took.

This reminds me the last rumor thread I read, that CCM was leaving for Cal. I hope this one turns out differently.

Butch Stones would kick him off the team anyway if he failed an entire semester, but I'm waiting on something more official before I worry. It could be a first class trolling.

But no really, my reasoning was that I thought Riley thinks he is ready to start and that if the coaches didn't think so, he would transfer out to TTU or somewhere like that. I don't think the kid wants to sit any longer, especially if Dobbs is the #2 this year. If in fact Dobbs is the #2, this is best for Ferg if he wants to get somewhere early enough in his career to make an impact. Just my opinion.
