This thread wow. My take on Gibson and the qb situation is this if he wants in take him roll with he and Jennings this year and next year take an elite pocket passer. I think gibson could be a great QB one day as well as Jennings but both are great athletes who will have a position no matter what. Williams as a walk on I am totally fine with as well. Just my two cents don't understand all the gibson hate he is a kid.

The hate is coming from the traditionalist who some believe just because a guy can run he can't throw or can't learn to play from the pocket. Honestly I would rather have a dynamic QB cause with the right mindset you can teach him to play from the pocket but you can't teach a pocket passer to be dynamic. Secondly, I don't see why we would recruit a pocket QB when our run game is based on the read option.

Never knew there would be so much complaining about recruiting a 5 star Athlete. If he doesn't pan out at QB you move him to another position like WR but if he pans out at QB then you have a very dangerous weapon on your hands

TG's recruitment turned hinky for me when he started setting twitter announcements for which all-star team he was going to play for while people were awaiting his paring down from 25 teams. Between him and Zach Gentry,I preferred the latter's film and him as a prospect...personal opinion? You don't have a right to it on this thread. Some of Gibson's supporters on here could give Cuonzo apologists a run for their money! I still feel that the kid is a major priority for Butch, and that's enough in my book to wait out the suspension imbroglio until all the facts come in...but anyone getting worked up by LV suggesting that we might be ok with Jennings and a walkon going forward, while going full court press on 2016 prospects...need to consult their doctor concerning their blood pressure an anxiety medication dosage!!! Ramp it up Doctor Feelgood!!! There's a legitimate concern about this kid's discipline and leadership...which is kinda important for the position :eek:k:

Here's a suggestion...start a TG Hero Worship thread in the Pub. :dance2: You shouldn't get too many dissenting opinions in there and you can share endorphins and needles to your hearts content...in a magical fantasyland where the dude has no accuracy issues and never has to play WR. :clapping:

Totally respect your opinion. I don't see anything wrong with at kid taking advantage of social media to communicate with their potential fans. Secondly, I believe your preference is for pocket passers in general so of course you would favor Gentry but if you look with a neutral eye their is no way you can believe Gentry has the best upside. Is Gentry more NOW ready yes but Gibson has things you can't teach. Totally agree with you about everyone respecting others opinion though.

Over the next few weeks, I expect the quarterback recruiting dominoes to start falling into place. Tennessee should be in the middle of the run. Most assume Tennessee's top target is Torrance Gibson from Florida. Gibson is a dandy prospect for sure and Tennessee is recruiting him very hard. However, Gibson is in a group of about 4 quarterback targets including Deondre Francois, Sheriron Jones, and Travis Waller. My understanding the first one they feel comfortable that is ready to firmly commit gets the spot.

If Gibson puts off making a decision until January as he says.... I doubt he will be playing at Tennessee. Tennessee would like its quarterback recruiting to be finished over the summer.

I'd be thrilled with Francois, Gibson, or Waller. I didn't love Jones' film but I don't have any idea what I'm doin so that doesn't mean anything. Is Waller supposed to be an Oregon lean?

While I understand the guy wanting to take his time he has to understand that recruiting classes are for the most part build around the QB unless that team doesn't take one in that year. Coaches also will like to build a relationships with their QB by going to their games and telling them the things they would like to see them work on. While he has the right to wait till January he is going to miss out on a lot of opportunities. He needs to avoid the flash and make a decision in a timely(not rushed) fashion.

If I had a problem with social media in of itself, I wouldn't follow the recruitment of ANY of these kids...it's omnipresent AND a communication tool...you get a vivid glimpse of their character and attitude via said communications...not a big bullet point for him either. :ermm:

In before if we land Gibson, the recruiting services will re-classify him as a QB and drop him to a 3 star immediately.

Or they just like someone else better? Or they are not wanting to wait him out? Or they did not care for his recent "issues"? I be surprised if osu or au was scared of recruiting and taking their chances VS UT at this point. I may be a Vol fan but I try to be realistic in thinking like one.

And I would be surprised to see OSU or Auburn stop recruiting a 5* QB.

5* on 247composite which accounts for all 4 recruiting services...

Everyone has their "favorite" when it comes to recruiting services. I prefer 247 for news and following the CB stuff and their twitter updates. Rivals IMO are better at evaluating/ranking the talent.

I don't think that's fair to say yet. I think Rivals is better than Scout and ESPN, but I believe all of those sites have been around for around 5+ years, not sure though. But 247 is relatively new, so I haven't decided which predicts talent better.

What about a 4* ATH?

IF all the rumors and "problems" are true... If he is truly such a Primadonna, then he would be the perfect fit for an urban Meyer run team. :). (Major sarcasm alert)

Please note that this is not my opinion in any way shape or form. I am just trying to fill in for butchna during his "serious" period :hi:

Other VN posters will not read the entire post and I am gonna be labeled a troll. Anyone know how to change the font color to blue while on mobile?

I could see 247 taking over the top spot(at least in my mind) within a year or 2. They have turned it into a pretty strong service pretty quickly.

Granted it does not really matter what service ranks a recruit compared to others. 1 thing I have learned in following UT recruiting is fans will always use the service who ranks the recruit higher for THAT recruit. If Rivals says a RB is a 4* and Scout says 5*, the kid is a 5* if he is a UT possibility. If 247 says a TE is a 4* and ESPN says 5*, then he is a clear cut 5* even though ESPN hates us. :)

Of course if the kid picks a school other than UT, it automatically reverts back to the lower ranking for the recruit.

Plays out that way all the time on here.

Kind of like Alabama and National Championships.
