I don't know about that. Francois, perhaps. But he has to realize the longer he drags it out, the more prone other commits go elsewhere during this void.

His commitment would help generate a lot of buzz around the program, showing that it is indeed moving forward. Could help secure commitments from prized OL, TE's and other skill position players. Could help on the Defensive side too, as recruits see they can join in and be part of something special.

The sooner he commits, the more he can impact the recruiting class. Perhaps he is waiting until some of the summer camps and announcing his decision on ESPN...which would help recruiting, too.

It's obvious that he's highly regarded by Butch and staff...if he pulls the trigger,he's assured the other QB slot...risky game he's playing tho...

the rumored altercation is about his move to WR. AH is getting a Qb transfer from Dade County. AH isnt as stacked as past yrs so Rump wants to move TG.

Torrance Gibson, transferring to Maryville to play QB and be close to his future college in Knoxville?

Just kidding... :whistling:

Coach needs to do what it takes to win. If he switches TG, then he will not be prepared as he needs to be to give best chance to be a QB at the next level. I think if you have a D1 type of guy you don't make that switch if he is a true QB and screw him over like that. You should still be looking at long term futures. If he is upset and it is because of this, I don't blame him.

So should he do what it takes to win or do what is best for the kids future?

Tough call..........but on high school level, the kids future still should be the biggest consideration in my opinion. It is not like he sucks and has never played there before. If I am not mistaken, they won a state championship with him at QB. Most people would not make that change. Transfer coming in will probably not have the team either if they follow TG. I would dance with the one who had brought me to the promise land before.

This transfer kid must be a hoss to force Corch to move TG. The solution here is fail the transfer kid (if senior?), hold him back a year and unleash TG this year one last time at QB.

I can't imagine his future is adversely affected by the position change. Everybody sees him as WR anyway apparently. He has a state-championship-winning film at QB so he's earned some benefit of the doubt.

Link? Only thing I've read was a teacher, not a coach. I don't see them suspending him from School for disagreeing with a coach. He might be suspended from the team if this was with a coach, not school.

More from Woody Wommack...

More details on Torrance Gibson's suspension

Nothing has changed regarding Gibson's status with the team or school. He is still suspended from the team and his status as a student at American Heritage is still up in the air.

To reiterate what I was told last night, Gibson was not suspended for an altercation with a teacher, at least this time. Evidently he was suspended earlier in the spring for an incident (non-physical) involving a teacher and was then reinstated and suspended a second time for an incident with a teammate. According to those close to the situation, coaches and administrators at American Heritage believed it was time for Gibson to "take a break" and they're working on getting him help to deal with what is being termed as a "pattern of behavior." According to someone with direct knowledge of the situation Gibson has had issues getting along with teammates, classmates and teachers at American Heritage over the last few months and everyone has "had enough," which lead to the aforementioned break.

Reports of Gibson's behavior has also gotten back to several schools and coaches and some programs are beginning to cool on Gibson, however, I don't think that situation as views as beyond repair so assume Gibson gets back on track he will still have no problem finding a college home.

I'm also told Gibson would be welcomed back at American Heritage, his current high school, but would have to show contrition and improved attitude and leadership skills for that to happen. A different source close to Gibson did tell me yesterday they expected him to be back at American Heritage by "mid-week" but that it was also "all on him" to remedy the situation.

If Gibson does not return to American Heritage I'm told he would be welcomed with open arms by other schools in the area, including Miramar High School, which is within walking distance of Gibson's home.

Obviously a lot of the information I have is coming from the school's side of things, but yesterday when I spoke to an adult close to Gibson I was told a lot of the same information. Everyone involved seems to be on the same page regarding Gibson's attitude and short fuse as well as his need to shift his focus from recruiting back to school and football.

Both. That kid just led you to a state title and a 66-8 romp victory in the title game as a qb. The coach is sending Torrance a lesson for his attitude. Nothing to do with his abilities as a qb on the football team.

I wonder if Woods had that 4th * if some UT fans would be as willing to support him as they would TG? Just find it kind of interesting. TG has issues, he needs our support. Woods has issues, and fans scream drop him and on to the next. Woods was/is actually a commitment.

AND- woods has had issues for a while - and this is TGs first that most know of.

He's also an elite QB, and those are much harder to come by than a woods type WR.

I don't like the sound of "Pattern of behavior."

But here's the thing.... The only thing you can control is your own attitude. TG can fix that but it's up to him. I'm glad it's not drugs, Violent friends, violence against women, etc. as those things are evidence of systemic bad decisions that rarely are remedied from just attitude adjustment. It's sounds like entitlement problem which a good college football S&C program with teammates that won't take crap from him will remedy.

We could be looking at Vince Young part deux.
